Somehow I found it easy to paint him, because the pics in those days were so ... well let's say "tacky". This makes for good lighting and colours. I wish I would learn to transfer those light conditions onto the "colder" promoshots of the newer captains.

Jetzt wollte ich gerade schreiben "schön, dass ich Deinen Lieblingscaptain dabei habe" ... aber da ich vorhabe, alle Captains zu malen ist das dann doch eher eine etwas dämliche Bemerkung meinerseits (die ich jetzt natürlich trotzdem hingeschrieben habe   ) Die Farben und Beleuchtungen von der alten Serie sind noch so richtig schön kitschig - und zum Malen einfach wunderbar.

Hehe - schon in Ordnung   !! Der 60's Style ist ja von der Farbgebung her was ganz Eigenes, macht aber unter anderem, den Charme der Original Serie aus!

You're welcome. Yes. Starlog started in the mid 70's. Back then, it was the primary source for news about anything sci-fi or comic book related.

They always had a lot of Trek news and pics. Back before the Internet, they were practically the #1 source for Trek news.

I wanted to paint a background that corresponded with the hues of the portrait (which is only of use for the yellowish uniform of the captain and not the others - if I should get so far as 1st officer and doc )
