Description
A hand carved, red cedar mask with jade cab inset. No power tools / no patterns I shaped this with traditional west coast tools. My first woodcarving effort.Related content

I like how the beginning? of the brows float above the mask rather than being connected. color choice is good too

I became fascinated with the light play (highlights and shadow) on displayed masks in gallery settings and wanted to build that depth into my own pieces. It also leaves one with a real sense of accomplishment when they bits don't break off in the process!
