Adam was the humanoid that Shin Gojira uses as an anchor to ground himself to this dimension. He was specifically chosen for this role due to his extremely high endurance, high pain threshold, ability to lead others and resistance to extreme temperatures. Adam allowed Shin Gojira’s ‘SpaceGodzilla’ form to return to Earth and steal Shin Kiryu, by allowing himself to be captured in Antarctica by Monarch.

Adam has been kept in stasis at Outpost 32 for almost a decade. NERV gained samples of Adam’s blood and tissue to create the neural toxin that killed Shin Gojira’s humanoids. After an internal investigation by Monarch, it is found that Emma Russell was responsible. Furious, Dr Serizawa fired her and blacklisted her on all official scientific operations. In an act of pettiness, Russell freed Adam, fully expecting the Gojiran Sapien to go on a rampage. Instead Adam took her hostage and questioned her motives.

Russell reveals a desire to use Kaiju to further humanity. She gloats that humans have subdued and reaped resources from the ‘All powerful’ Shin Gojira. Adam is furious, but sees through her attempts to make him go Berserk. He instead peers into her mind and disguises himself as her husband, Mark Russell and tells her that she’ll be fun to break. He manages to convince other humans that he is here to escort his wife out of the base and manages to drag her and a crew into a VTOL. With Russell being highly disliked in Monarch for her actions, Adam easily convinces the crew to take them to Australia.

As they reach their destination Adam reveals himself and kills the guards and crew, leaving the pilot alive to land the VTOL. He forces the pilot to land in desolate lands and strips Emma Russell of any electronic devices and forces her out of the aircraft. Russell pleads with Adam but he scolds her, noting that she’s now dropped her superior attitude towards him. He advises her to use it to survive before ordering the pilot to take off.

Adam’s movements are not known for the next year, the VTOL and pilot have never been seen again, but he has been in contact with several Kaiju and other independent Gojiran Sapiens including Nadia. There is speculation that Adam is raising a force against humanity, but nothing has been proven.

A year after Shin Gojira’s ‘death’, Adam takes several of his elite warriors to Infant Island and shoots down the VTOL carrying Dr Serizawa and Vivian Graham and takes them hostage. Adam forces Serizawa to use the ORCA to summon Legendary Godzilla by threatening Vivian’s life. Despite everything, Serizawa and Vivian take the situation well and use the ORCA to summon Legendary.

Mothra and her fairies, furious with Adam defiling her Island, appear and free Serizawa and Vivian and protect them from Adam and his cohorts. Adam is furious and threatens to tear Infant Island apart. Looking to distract Adam, Serizawa asks him where Emma Russell is and praises his ingenuity in Outpost 32. Adam ignores his flattery and informs him that he left her to fend for herself in a desert and told her to use her ‘superiority complex’ to survive. Adam notes that for a woman who despised him, she wasn’t too proud to beg.

Serizawa is unfazed by Adam’s attempts to provoke him, to which Adam is impressed. He notes that he understands why Serizawa is his Master’s ‘favoured human’ and remembers him vividly from their encounter in Antarctica. He apologises for the current situation, but “desperate times call for desperate measures.”
