Description The Clown Prince of Crime and the Dark Knight, drawn while I was trying to decide what to draw. Definitely taking some cues from Conrad Veidt in "The Man Who Laughts" with the Joker.

I just like Batman's look on his face like "What are you laughing at?". He looks serious like he isn't going to take any of the Joker's crap. Yeah...it's Batman all right. The coolest dude around.

Thanks. I wanted to keep the look of the current films, but experiment with the materials and construction. One thing Batman and the Joker have in common is that they're constantly reevaluating and redesigning themselves to suit the times.

Great sketch - nice to see a 'smarter' Joker too - bucking the current trend to make him crazier and crazier looking! I mean he still looks crazy, but you get what I mean... hopefully...

Oh, for sure. I love the batshit train-wreck clown of the apocalypse we saw in the Dark Knight, the one everyone's been drawing, but I also love the scheming, dapper-yet-dirty comedian of crime from the Animated Series. The Joker has to be a titanically intelligent villain, I think, if he is to be a credible arch-fiend for the Batman. He always loses because that genius comes from insanity and hate, while the Caped Crusader's comes for logic and morality.
