The camo work came out really nice on this one!
On your next builds, you can work on fading the camo in certain panels, usually by adding a little bit of white or yellow for o.d. green and lower your airpressure on your compressor.
Have you picked up the new Airfix P-40? I bought it last month.

The wait will save you the cost of aftermarket decals though!

Magnificent result!
I built this same kit a few years ago A pain in the neck. and I had so many problems with the fit of the pieces that it was about to become one of the very few kits that I threw to the dustbin XP

Thanks very much! I had one or two fit issues too, mostly with joining the wing halves together with all the spars inside, I guess I misaligned the spars and cockpit somehow. Though I did manage to get the wings together without gaps in the end, the misalignment must have caused other issues as when I tried to get the fuselage down around the cockpit and into the wing routes, there was a massive gap between the fuselage and wings. After a little bit cajoling, mostly going at it with a blade, I was able to get them to fit, but there is still a slight gap. Not the end of the world but not perfect either and a tad annoying, but I guess this is what modelling is all about.
Airfix have taken to quite a bit of complicated engineering in their kits recently, and though in terms of detail, that's a great thing, the cockpit is superbly detailed for just out of the box, it does mean that you have to get things absolutely perfect otherwise something will be thrown out of alignment. I'm pleased with the result though and I'd say despite all the frustration, you did the kit justice in the end too. Also we both built squadron mates I see.

An excellent model. I used to paint with a brush all my camouflages, the result was more or less like yours.

My uncle was in the RAF in the 1950s and 196s, he also built a model or two, and commented to me that the 'perfection' that most modellers seek is false perfection, as aircraft in real life, in service, never look that perfect.
He also commented that at scale distances, say looking at a 1/72 scale model at a metre's distance and looking at the real aircraft at the same distance, 72 metres, that in you usually cannot 'count rivets' at 72 metres, and panel lines are hard to see. So we must be careful to make our detail subtle.
Nice work

Looks good! As a fellow model maker I can only say that practice makes perfect. I have been out of the hobby for several years while I am in school, but keep buying models as I run across those that catch my eye. There's no singular right way to make them, so have fun with it!

Very nice! I remember you saying you were working on a Mosquito model. Did you ever finish that?

That ship sailed a long time ago for me. Too many "Bargains" and various exciting releases have conspired to commit me to a lifetime of kit building I suspect...

Thanks, I'll have to share a few other finished kits when I get the chance to photograph them.
