Description Thought I'd make some inksketches of a slightly younger Haze Thornlance. Was trying to make myself draw him a little less buff and a bit more gaunt and angular.
Growing up in various military facilities in the Naronian army is next to disgustingly cruel... growing up as a feisty hardheaded rebel of a cub is worse...

I think you did a great job showing his internal struggle. Is this before he builds more muscle mass? Or is this his new normal look?

It's a younger Haze, yes.

I always love these anatomy sketches of your characters, and with Haze at a younger age, I once again see him as a slender and handsome fox. As I do see his ribcase acually, I do get a feeling that he does indeed have it more rough in his younger years.... it definitely shows what you mean by the army being digustingly cruel, and him also clawing into his own arms may suggest that it is not always easy on him mentally. With his spine being so noticable, and his mouth bleeding like that, I can ponder the starvation and physical punishment is extreme. And suddenly his slender form does appear as something quite dark.

I need to do so much more of these ^^'
I feel like I smetimes slip and make my characters look entirely different unintentinally. When not drawing for a long while, that tends to happen.
He's a rather... tortured soul, to put it mildly. I need to think of how this will affect his character. So far, I haven't really explored his weaknesses, bad sides and bad habits. It's after all that which makes a character interesting and relatable. The good is never visible without the bad.
Starvation and physical punishment are but few of the ways the Naronian use to "dicipline" their young ones. Their method is made to strip the children of their concept of comfort and physical weaknesses. The ones left by the roadside were simply not fit for their roll as men.
