Description And so, it's finished. My first complete sword is made. Blade, fittings and all!
It's far from perfect, and I know there's a lot to improve on, but I'm really happy it turned out as well as it did.
The total length of the sword is 94cm, with a blade length of 78cm. It has a blade width of 5,8 cm and weighs approximately 1100 gram.
The blade is forged from 1075 carbon steel and the fittings are all wrought iron.
As the sword is for my lovely girlfriend, I etched "Thrakena" onΒ the blade, which is her alias in her artwork and according to her and some quick Google searches means Female Dragon in Greek, which we both though was a fitting name for her sword.
So here it is. I finish it with confidence that I will make many more swords in the future!

This is beautiful. I have so many questions, but I'll just ask one! How did you etch that fine writing into the steel?

By connecting the blade to a positive end of an electric current, then having the negative end covered by a pad soaked in salt solution. When dabbing the runes with it, the current connect and the solution activates, etching the unprotected steel.
