Bleah. been in an art slump as of late. i guess "KXVIII" and "Die Sterne" sucked all the creative energy out of me...anyhoo, i was challenged by to do fanart of an anime character i havnt done before. so i decided to do two and did Reki and Rakka from the anime Haibane Renmei, an anime i ADORE.
Reki is my fav from the show, but i kinda like Rakka too. they are Haibane, not angels, though they resemble the stereotypical image of angels.
i tried to capture the subtle wistfulness and soft feeling of...je ne sais quoi that the show gives me. i dont think i did very well. but im pleased with how the characters came out.

still got two more challenges to do...i'll work on em over the upcoming week. i still got other projects to do too, but i guess they'll have to wait till i get my groove back...

euugh beige! avoid, avoid! the placement of the feet isnt compositionally pleasing. not your best piece, but still dam good on the character side of things.

i wasnt too happy with this in the end... the characters have got a real depth and indefinable essense about them that i wasnt able to pin down. i hate doing fanart sometimes...well, most of the time...

angels are my forte. the sheer fact that Haibane resemble angels is probably part of the reason i like em so much.

Haibane rocks my socks. ^^ its kinda deepish and profound, and very obscure, but the art and characterisations are beautiful

yeah, there was actually a pardoy art i found online somewhere which has the cast from azumanga daioh cosplay as the cast from haiane...and sakaki was reki... lol

Nice! I like how you drew Reki especially. I've seen about 5 eps of Haibani Renmei, but it didn't really appeal to me. It's got nice characterization though.

thanks for the comments. Haibane isnt really for everyone...its one of those types of anime that loves to be obscure.
