Description
Thanks to for translating the title.I tried many versions of this photo before coming upon this one. Wasnt sure how I wanted to accompany the tree (man in a suit, a fairy, a mime?)
decided that it just doesnt look that good with a mime
Instead of falling to what everyone else is doing....I think ill do some nice "pure" dark photography. Not adding goth chics with angel wings or blood raining from the sky.
Let the image speak for itself. Add too much makeup and you start to lose the picture.....

wonderfull and simple image, it really speaks for itself. b&w was the best choice here! but I would like to see some real film grain, don't know, but I'm always missing something in digital images

eh i dont like film grain that much. I actually went to a lot of trouble to get rid of the grain (cuz there was quite a bit)
then again in digital its always crappy noise not grain =\

cliched, but still nice... the starkness of it is whats unique.. feels more dead than others that are edited a lot.. dead ina good way of course

this is what i was talking about when i mentioned the luminance. the sky is absolutely alive with this glowing vibrance-- better than I've seen in almost any work ever.
the greyscale here is very reminiscent of ansel adams and as a fan of the brilliant motion in his work i don't use that comparison lightly.
This warrants a watch for the lovely contrast. the solitude of the tree is stirring, i am actually taken by the way those branches dance so delicately against that spunsugar sky that you have so skillfully rendered.

it's a great picture.
but I don't really know what the title has to do with it. it's "damned" (Verdammt in german).
it gives a great feeling of lonelyness.
coloring and toning are great. also the composition is worth a +fav
but the title? did you really mean damned (the english translation of our german "Verdammt"

"damned" wow....never thought of that. I was told by a swiss that it was "forsaken" which - of course - means the same thing.

This is so beautiful. I have no clue how you got such a soft haze photographed so perfectly with such perfect colors...did you edit this at all? I wish I could give a better comment, but this is just too amazing.

ill let you in on a secret - took me about 2 hours of editing and re-editing to get it just perfect. I have a batch of filters and enhancement techniques that ive been trying out on my images and its looking very promising.

theres this tree in a middle of a field on the way to kristins it kinda reminds me of that..

yes i completely agree it is off balance. I need something to help weight it back to the right but - kind of ruins the lonliness feeling. I tried to accomplish that with the bright area on the right, but it isnt stark enough to make much of a difference.

took this on a one lane farm road in the hillcountry of texas. this is a large field that belongs to a rancher....
im standing on a recessed road with a river behind me. Quite an interesting spot
