Hey everyone, this is another acrylic painting that is a diptic (two pieces) the bottom piece is 24"x 36" and the top piece is 20" x 24". This was really a wonderful and fun piece for me to do I loved every second of it. I really dont have an explanation for it other then the title is self explanatory. Oh yes and I am officially in a proffesional gallery ( in Las Vegas, Nevada), as of now they will be selling my originals for 6 months if you would like to purchase an original you may go to [link] it will take them about a week to get me in the new artists section, so keep a look out if you are interested. My brother sent me a link to one of your other pieces, which I like too, so here I am. I really like her little legs and shoes! Actually the whole thing is really well put together. Keep on painting, because there is alawys something a little more satisfying about having a work that you can actually hold. ( Not to mention it is harder than digital, no undo button!)

So I'm in Vegas, because (a) I've never been; (b) a project deadline was Tuesday (not that I met it); and (c) a bunch of co-workers with whom I occasionally hang had scheduled a trip at exactly the right time.
And I'm bored out of my mind: the Luxor is a pit (the bar takes fifteen minutes to deliver a barely adequate and unjustly expensive mojito); there isn't a quiet, smoke-less, shady place to sit and read for lord knows how many miles; and I find the whole gambling thing completely incomprehensible.
But in addition to the promise of good restaurants, I'd found mention of some place called Art Encounter, and having caught the collecting bug a couple years ago I decided at the last minute to rent a car and make time to stop by and see what they had to offer.
I wandered the aisles for about fifteen minutes, making notes of a few artists that drew my eye, turned the corner, and saw "Float". Huh. Stared for a while, then looked left to "Secret". "Oh dear" (well, I was a bit more profane, but I scanned the user agreement before signing up here to post this, so I'm bowdlerizing). Turned left again to "Letting Go".
I had to move off to another aisle before I realized what that one meant to me, came back, and stared some more.
I don't have wall space for "Float", and "Reaching Out" didn't quite do it for me (Michael Parkes sorta turned me off the whole angel motif). But I fell hard for the other two, and they should show up in a week or so when I'm back from another trip.
Mr. Rykovich: I salute you, and thank you for expressing your talents in a way that will grace my walls for years to come.
(And for providing the impetus for the Google search that found this site; there's a lot of nice stuff here.)

Well thankyou so very very very much. I really hope you enjoy them since I only had "letting go" in my hands for a week but I hope you enjoy her as well. Too bad you didnt make your deadline ( I never make them!). Also thankyou for taking the time to leave a comment. If you are ever curious about new pieces I usually post them on here and all my new originals will be available through art encounter (who also has a website). I usually have a new piece every 2 to 3 weeks , other then that thanks again I hope you love your paintings.
Oh and Las Vegas is just a joy isnt it! Parts of it can be enjoyable, just never on the strip.

new style + new format stuff from you Kurtis! if I remember right the colours you choose in this one is quite experimental as well(the closest i think you come to this in terms of colour is your 'Toxic' piece) oh and not to mention love love love the hairness!

The color here is just extraordinary. Her richness, the blues and yellow, that thick black twisting out into the thin blue strands. I love the greens. I love the tiny details on the stockings and shoes, the bubbling back in the background. The way the baloons going up are the opposite of that, pencil hatching and just... yeah. Beautiful.

awwww, thankyou very much. Yeh the balloons were a blast do and they are actually done in acrylic like the rest of the picture but it does look like pencil hatching in this photo, never noticed that, something I might have to try soon. Thank YOU!
