how did the paper clay work out I've been looking at that stuff.
trouble is I don't have access to a kiln. Does it have to be fired or can this stuff air dry?

My experience is that it's a great material because it's strong and lightweight without firing but if you put it in the kiln it will be very breakable. If you hunt for something like papermache but a bit stronger, it's perfect...

Thanks for the info on this stuff, seen it in art supply store but never tryed it out...What I've used is oil clay and moulds out of hydrocal. This stuff would not reallt do what I want then.. but it's good to know.
thanks very much

love your works, do you normally work in just stone ware clay (what I call old school, due to the in flux of sculpy) or what. You have a great talent

what does paper clay feel like? is it lighter or smoother or something? I've experianced red clay, grey stoneware, and earthenware clay before, but that's it.

It's a bit like the white stoneware clay.. I found that it is more flexible than the red clay and it is not brake so easy.. but as a matter a fact it's hard to compare..

I made my own paper clay for a bust I made, it was a mix of stone ware clay and a whole bunch of newspaper I ran through a blender (sort of ruined the blender in the process) but it was a great medium a bit lighter than stone ware and it fired great with no problems.

yea, I guess it's depending on what type of sculpture or pottery you're making.

I love this masks!
Looks like me on a bad morning!LOL
Now what I know of paper clay it dries hard on its own.... I would worry a kiln would fry it!
