Description The Grand Tetons

The full set of Grand Teton mountains, as seen leaving the Grand Teton National Park. This sight was truly awesome, with the deep blue sky and wispy clouds above the peaks. Probably one of my best shots since I started doing photography.

Post-Processing:
Some post processing was performed in Adobe Lightroom to improve vibrance, contrast, and clarity. The original shot was a bit underexposed as I had only moments to snap a few shots before the view was obscured (was in a car on a highway at the time), and I did not have the camera set correctly. Adjustments were made to resemble what I actually saw as much as possible.

I'm surprised this hasn't received that many views. It's absolutely gorgeous! So eyecatching!

Vision: The composition is excellent. The color is strong and grabs me in from the get go. I like how the colors start and strong at the top then gradually get lighter. The only problem I have is that it would be nice if the forefront were in focus.

Originality: I know mountains have been done before, but I give it four stars because it's original in that someone else might take the same exact picture, but it probably won't be exactly like yours.

Technique: The .5 taken off is for the blurry forefront, but the rest is magnificent.

Impact: Well, the thumbnail drew me in. I feel like I'm standing in the field staring up at the mountain. I especially love how crisp and blue the sky is.

Thank you so much for the critique! I appreciate you taking the time, and I'll be taking your tips to heart. You were very fair.

I am fairly sad about the foreground...I was in a car at the time, and it got so much motion blur. We had a very, very long drive ahead of us, and no one wanted to stop for one last picture...so I was stuck with what I got. Next time I'll have to insist more.

Is there any way you could crop it without ruining the shot? This picture is so beautiful. I would hate you to dismiss it as something you feel might be ruined just because of the foreground.

I probably could. There is some "free" space at the ends of the mountain peaks. I should be able to snip off most of the blurry foreground, but I might loose some of the effect of the sky if I take all of the blurry parts out. I'll see what I can do. Again, thank you for the kind critique.

Good luck with the picture! And who knows? Others might feel the blurry foreground adds an artistic effect. I really think it's all a matter of taste. Your welcome! And thanks for the add.

I really love the interplay with the mountains and the clouds... just a shame that the motion blur in the foreground makes it quite evident it was shot from a car. Nonetheless, gorgeous work.

Thank you for the comments. I agree about the foreground. I am working on a cropped version that will eliminate much of the foreground, and produce a more panoramic view. Hopefully it will be more appealing.

i love the way you have chosen the depth of field, the blur in the foreground makes your eye move along the landscape and scale up to the grandeur of the mountains...well caught

Thank you for the comments. An interesting view on the foreground blur... Its great to hear different viewpoints on a given piece of art. So many ways to look at something, its great!
