This is fantastic, I envy the person who has the time, patience and skill to pull off such a great IR piece like this!

Thanks very much! It really didn't take much time or patience, just setting up a tripod and putting the filter on the lens.

Beautiful, Steve! Love how the water has that glass effect going on, really looks so beautiful framed by the trees and then the eye travels upwards to that awesome sky.

Thanks Cathy! I love long shutter speeds on flowing water. But only it it's in infrared. All those long exposures of waterfalls and water flowing over rocks look so trite to me. But get a nice surreal IR effect going on and I love it.

Really crisp and clear. Whit kind of IR filter are you using? I've just got the Hoya R72 to experiment with, 5s shutter would give me a black image! i need at least 60s.... am i going wrong somewhere?

Most likely, your camera just isn't sensitive enough to IR light. All digital cameras have a hot mirror in front of the sensor which acts as a filter and blocks IR light. Some cameras have stronger filters than others. I saw on your page that you have a 400D - and Canon is known for using very strong hot mirrors. So if that's the camera you're using your R72 on, I would bet that's the ptoblem.

Yup, it's the 400d. I was actually toying with the idea of getting a 350d and having it converted to IR permanently. I guess i'll just have to keep trying on calm still days until i can get some funds together

It looks like snow... we never get snow here in Georgia, unless it's a blizzard.

We never get just a nice beautiful blanket of snow. This piece makes me feel peaceful and nostalgic of the last time I saw snow.

Thanks alot! It's amazing how an infrared photo taken in summer can look just like a snowy winter day.
