Description The Iscandrus, or "Hellmouth", can be found on multiple worlds, but to them, all the universe is one big planet.

Iscandrus are sometimes coined to be demons, or even "escapees" of Phantom hell, but Iscandrus gets along with no demon, and nothing escapes from Phantom Hell save for the dreaded Phantom Worm. The Iscandrus species is simply one of the more ruthless predators to evolve dimensional shifting capacities, enabling it to cross boundaries that would seem impossible in the current world.

Any member of the Iscandrus species may open a portal at will, enabling them and only them to enter a shadow world described as "black and grey, with paths in all directions". Within this realm, their orange armor plates glow a bright green, allowing other Iscandrus to notice them. This realm can be thought of as a highly condensed version of the universe, with solid paths somehow leading in all directions. Iscandrus may therefore run to any area it chooses and teleport back to "basic reality" in search of food. Their swirling entrance/exit gates are two dimensional and turn a chunky white at the edges where their boundaries coincide with basic reality, resembling cartoonish teeth and making the monster appear as if it really has emerged from the literal mouth of hell. These "teeth" are three dimensional and made of an unknown, possibly unidetifiable substance. They dissappear when the portal closes.

Iscandrus itself is a fussy hunter, using a sixth (or seventh) sense to tell which planets are favorable, and often frequenting those areas. Their body structure is less suited for raw speed and more suited for quick agile feats, making them more of a "strafing" monster than a "chasing" monster. Their stomachs seems relatively simple compared to the rest of the body: a lumpy, dangling, translucent sack that visibly grows when digesting food swirls around its interior.. Like the Varg  (which is actually one of its prey), Iscandrus has a strategy for all sizes of prey.

Iscandrus's tongue is its greatest weapon. Lightly armored and highly flexible, its mandibles vibrate at a frequency that "softens" most biological matter... making it easy to injure. Small prey are merely caught and dragged back for consumption, but larger prey are slowly eaten alive as the mandible hooks into their flesh, twists, and pulls out a triangular hunk of meat. Unlike Varg, Iscandrus does not act as a parasite; it has every intention of eating its prey in this slow fashion while it dances out of reach. In the event an Iscandrus grabs too much at once, its side molars close with such force that most things are bisected, including the tail end of overly large meat chunks and whatever tried to grab on to the tongue. The spikes on its jaw are mostly for show, and could be involved in mating.

For all their terrors, Iscandrus have many weaknesses. Their dangling stomachs are more resilient than they appear, but still weaker than the rest of the creature. They may also flee at a minor tongue injury, despite the fact that the tongue is one of the few parts that grows back in its entirety.

Iscandrus may also find themselves prey of larger lifeforms who use signals to lure them over. After all, you're never truly top dog.
