Lately you've noticed that I've been working on the GRAND HUNTER graphic novel as well as the website for updates.I've decided that to keep the content flowin' on my deviantART account I'll post the comic pages in their original LAYOUTS & NOTES prior to it's INK and COLOUR treatment.
At least the notes to myself and to my new colourist will be an interesting read for those keen on the GRAND HUNTER series or even those who are into making comics.

Hmm been wondering what your pages look like before you actually ink it and colour it, heck I feel stupid not making comics in the same sort of format D: but its always nice to see behind the scenes material : ) cant wait to see the next site update : D

Well....is not for nothing but I recommend you to rid off the "muzzle" like in that cat girl for the next background characters. Because, you know, very blue thing's characteristic. Probably would be an idea to base that characters' faces in real-life animals to evade that.
Anyway, is just the cat. The others characters are completely fine.

I'm aware of that thanks. Check out the other characters in the following pages, they'll have a much different look than the usual 'Sonic muzzle'. If you want to get technical with it the cat's one actually is slightly different when a line is divided in the middle of her muzzle to indicate the shape of a cat's mouth and cheek.

Yeah, I noticed. The coloring might will make a different sight for it. No worries that I only spotted that in the cat, the others characters are okay. Hope that you didn't take what I said as offense...

oo thank goodness I thought i sucked cuz something like this might have taken me 5-8 hours, on a good day xD
oo um one more question when it comes to inking you use a linking pen right? Cause I heard a lot of artist use the pen tool in coloring programs (like photoshop) and I for one have no idea how to use it

I ink the pages digitally using a graphics tablet - all redrawn by freehand.
There are loads of tutorials here on DA that will show you how to ink by using the pen tool so do check them out!

I've always wondered how comic artist have room to squeeze bubbles in between people and space. That's a big jump stone for me. Any advice?

Experimentation I guess. Also, read up on your comics and you'll find out little cool techniques to keep speech bubbles and art balanced on each page. *thumbs up*

I guess things gets easier now, that you have the colourist on your side to finish it, so all you have to worry about is sketching and inking, which will spare you alot of time...nice ^__^!

It's been fun creating new characters even when it's just minor ones that you see in the crowd. They make out to be a useful prop to the story since they are the eyes of the world and know what's going on in this era of Fortune Hunting!
