Thank you so much for your comment! I'm still totally in love with this show - I'm so glad iTunes has it so I can watch it whenever I want!
And as for A Secret Uncovered, I've actually been working on the next chapter since I finished grad school. It's been slow going due to a number of life conflicts, but I've gotten a decent way through and I'm actually liking how it's turning out. So stay tuned!
And I did use Photoshop. CS5 I think. I don't know how to work any other software lol!

Hey, I just left your FF page, and I was wondering about your Tortured Revenge story. What's the status on that?

Awwww! I love it! Very sweet Jenn!
So here's the part where I point things out as a fellow artist, heh. For your first comic you did very well! The story telling is clear and concise. Simple is often best for comics and you pulled it off well. There's still the right kind of look for the cartoon too and the background is appropriately detailed without distraction. The only thing I would say to keep a look out for next time is something you've already mentioned, perspectives, specifically on the kite. For a lack of reference it still looks all right and some practice will help get that more together.

Well visual references are an excellent way to help you out, so don't feel bad using that. Tutorials are definitely a good idea. Just remember, practice! That's the best way to get it ingrained in your head.

Great work for your first comic strip! Yes, comics are very difficult. And time consuming. And sometimes make you want to pull your hair out. But I find I get better a lot faster than if I'm just doing little oneshots, maybe because it forces me to keep the continuity of the characters and environments. You can't get away with fudging the size or details of things in two drawings of the same scene right next to each other. You have to be able to reproduce the same character and environment - which means relying on skills, not happy accidents.
And you did really well to go search for references, even if you didn't find all the ones you wanted. That will help you improve a lot faster too - especially looking for info on human proportions. Perspective is really difficult. There aren't really perspective tutorials here on DA or on youtube. The best place to go for tutorials is scribd.com. Search for art instruction and figure drawing books. Especially look for Figure Drawing by Andrew Loomis. It's my favorite reference for basic (and not so basic) figure proportions, and he's got a really in-depth section on perspective - including how to draw humans in perspective.
You should stick with doing comics! Your layout is very readable - the translation in your description wasn't necessary at all. One shortcut you could have used was to draw only panels 1, 3, and 4, then to make panel two just do a cropped close up of the boy from panel 3. That way you don't have to redraw him. (It looks like you might have done this already, but the string on the kite is different, so I wasn't sure.) We need more DP comic book people, and yours shows a lot of promise!

Hurray! That sounds great! I'm looking forward to your next comic! If you have any questions or want to know where to find a tutorial on something, feel free to ask me. I'm self-taught and just started learning about a year ago, so I literally have more art instruction books and tutorials on my computer than my town's library has on its shelves. Stuff like Loomis's book, how to draw battle scenes, human anatomy, expressions, etc... I'd be happy to send any of it to you that you want. Just let me know what you're trying to tackle. There's a tutorial collection in my faves gallery also that you can browse through. And if there's something I don't have or don't know, it's probably something I *should* have or know, so I'll go hunt it down for the both of us. I'm a total research junkie.
I'm also starting a series of tutorials on how to draw, color, and paint in TwistedBrush (a freeware program a lot like Corel Painter or Photoshop, if you're looking for a good program). So feel free to send me any requests for video tutorials too.
