Description Aka Carrying Secrets Beyond the Grave
Aka Still a Little Secret?

My annual cartoon tribute to and , only there's nobody to wear it to this year's Motor City Comic Con (13-15 May), so it's going directly to their message boxes this time. (Am posting this almost a week early, unfortunately, as I'll be leaving for KL in 13 hours' time, and won't be back until Sunday). This one is a nod to Matt's Indy Jones parody videos, and his Hollywood is Dead poster series.

[Not sure if drawing your favourite Star Wars artist almost becoming zombie food counts as a "salute", but what the hey. Hopefully this doesn't qualify me as some kind of creepy stalker...]

[Oh, and Alex, I'm sorry for making you a zombie you asked for it by posting that zombified picture of yourself to Facebook. ]

Caran D'Ache colour pencil (cocoa) lineart, scanned and painted on Corel PhotoPaint, as usual. Have uploaded the full-sized picture on the off-chance that someone *might*, for whatever bizarre reason, want to print and wear this to MCCC.

Aheheh, I kinda like the idea of a yearly MCCC salute series NOTHINGTOSEEMOVEALONG. Glad you like it! Don't go eating brains, now.

[And the guy at the photo studio here could have it done in three hours, but then I'd have to post it to you, which would take... gee, I dunno, I've no idea what they're using to carry mail here these days. Garden snails?]

haha, here its hard, Getting single shirts done are a pain. Its usually an online order thing and they give you a hard time unless you order a lot, but it still takes 5-10 days, which well, would not work LOL.

Dude I'm trully amazed, I'm telling you, we have to get you doing topps cards man. You are meant to do this for a living. I think you would have fun doing sketch cards.

I still use last years for a whole bunch of stuff. Like my twitter and stuff. LOL !

hey can you do me a fav. I want to print and frame them, can you get me a large copy of each? So i can hang them in my studio.

I don't know about Twitter, but I believe I've seen you and the interrogation droid on Facebook! Oh wait, it's now Zombie Alex...

Ohh, I thought you meant normal prints. Tory had hers printed on T-shirt transfer paper, which she cut out and ironed on her shirts. What, you're not planning on *wearing* this, are you?

Drawing Topps cards sounds like barrels of fun... Mind you, I also have fun traumatising O Levels biology students, so I don't know what that says or, indeed, whether I should be allowed to do too much of a fun thing, hahahahaha!

The full-sized version of this picture can be downloaded on this dev page (because I thought you might want a bigger copy ). I'll send last year's to you in a note or an email.

Holy crap ! i never saw this reply !! Dude im sorry !

I was gonna wear it. but i didn't see ur response haha. I thought it would be cool.

Would you be interested in doing cards? The only think is that they are all hand drawn, Basically they send the cards by mail and u draw right on them. So you have to do it with actual hand work, no computer. All you have to do is put together (draw) a few examples sketches and submit. i can give you the email to submit to later.

thanks for these man, they are so awesome and fun !

Haha, it happens. Sometimes stuff gets buried in my message box too, and doesn't get unearthed until months later.

And yes, I would love to do sketch cards (and I do quite a lot of illos with brown colour pencil/colour pencils/tech pens/ink, only very few of them make their way to dA because it's mostly personalised gift art or Les Mis ). Er... a question, though: what happens if the cards arrive here damaged, or if I manage to mar one while it's here? not that I'm even sure they'll give my work a second glance, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Cheers, mate!

AlexBuechel In reply to DarthFar [2011-08-05 12:11:18 +0000 UTC]

Well. if they arrive damaged then there was a HUGE problem. They are really good at packing them up. Usually a box, in a box, in a box with foam. So that's not so likely. In terms of u damaging them. Well that could happen. People are usually really careful. I have yet to damage one and ive done over 1000. How ever, i cant say i was happy with all of them. More like i only like about 70% and feel i could have done better on the rest. But that's the beauty of it. They are sketch cards so the level of illustration is supposed to be limited to sketch.

Do me a fav. Join ([link] ) that forum. Look around, see whats going on in terms of card sets, styles, and most important quality.

My biggest worry would be if they would ship them in your direction. But after u send in some samples that we can chat about, well deal with that problem. hahaha.

Put together some sketch samples at that size (2.5"x3.5") of star wars characters, in any style ( i would suggest ur own, not photo realizm as there are too many who already do that.) and well send them in.

Don't be thrown off by the fact that many of us do a better job on some. These are called return cards. So artist tend to make some amazing. but the rest are usually just sketches.
