"OH MY GOD, HE KILLED TIMMY!"(Too bad there's no subcategory for Painting > Humour).
So I was bored, uninspired, and idly doodling the stuff I had laying around my desk, when I realised that my pencil sharpener - which eats lead like candy - was at least slightly evil, and probably a monster from my pencils' point of view. (And who knows what it does when I'm not around). So of course I had to paint this.
I guess a little ennui is a good thing?
A certain beta you all know rather well is responsible both for the title of this painting and Timmy the pathetically mutilated pencil, god rest his little carbon soul.
Q: Why is the artist manikin slumped in the background?
A: Most likely because evil sharpener has chewed his legs off. (They *are* made of wood, you know).
A mixture of hard and round brush, and two of my custom-made nibs for the wood and sharpener texturing. Everything was painted except for the picture in the frame, which *was* also painted, just not at the time of the creation of this picture.

i know this is an old art and all but it is really bugging me that the reflection in the sharpener does not match the scene ;x;

Actually, since I rigged and photographed the scene completely for reference, everything you see *is* exactly what was in the reference photo, LOL. (Except the smoke, obviously). I have no faith in my imagination (or lack thereof) when doing a hyper/photoreal painting.

I love the expression on Ziggy and the shiny of the pens. And much more but not so articulate at this time of night with meds on board that give me aphasia and sleepiness. I just...like Ziggy's eyebrows. Yes. And the everywhere shiny. And the kind of, smoking gun effect, but instead of blowing the smoke away...aw heck, you get it, you made it. Yes. Love.

I find that pencil sharpeners of such class generally *do* tend to be evil, whereas the small, finger-sized ones are far too easily lost. Hence, I usually choose to spend a painstaking fifteen minutes sharpening with a knife, or I go the lazy way and find my mechanical pencils

Far, Far, Far. When I see previews of your artwork in my inbox, my brain says it's a photo. Then I see your name attached to it and I realize it won't be a photo, that you're just dedicated to giving us all whiplash from the double takes.
The reflection on the pencil sharpener is making my mind boggle.

Now that βthatβ is out of the way...O-o. Iβm disturbed that Ziggy is smoking, whether from satisfaction or because he expended so much energy in his destruction, Iβm not sure. But he poor babies in the box! The ones near the edge, leaning over to get a good look, typical gawkers. But look at the one in the corner, the same kind of pencil as our dear departed. [sniff] Iβm pretty sure itβs Timmyβs brother.

The Lime pencil, βOooh, do you see the scratch marks in the wood? Those are defensive, he was trying to save himself.β
Big blue brush thing:
Black pen at the front: "SO glad I'm a pen."
Lavender pencil hiding near the back, βI canβt look, I donβt want to look, I want out, how can we get out?β
How you managed to animate these without making a cartoon is pure brilliance. Well done.

Ps: Seriously, I'm just gawking at it. I know the shiny part of the sharpener isn't real metal, but my brain's telling me otherwise!! Eg: "You're looking at a photo, Fi, not a painting!"

But you should know me well enough by now, Fifi, to know that I'll paint anything that happens to strike my fancy at the moment. And details are fun fun fun. Trying to make people think (if only for a moment) a painting is a photo even more so.

Yeah, I kinda do, but still it doesn't lessen the nice surprise I get whenever you pull something like this. It boggles my mind on how well you can capture all those details! (In a good way ;D) I wish I had your patience. XD
