ACK!! I know! Wasn't Erik completely DARLING? So sweet and charming and well mannered!
And we can't forget that voice now, can we? For most of the series I was torn between wanting to give him a rubber ducky to watch him play with it- AAHHHH, THAT JUST ENVOKED CUTENESS!! *sits and coos and giggles over Erik*

I think that with all the word play going on, (apt to what?) the line "I do! Very much..." could have quite easily been followed with: "What sorts of things you wish for?"

This version of the phantom is so different than the others i hardly consider him in any references. But I do love the series for its own reasons. It is so very sweet.

I just watched this entire movie myself on youtube like you did...I absolutely ADORED it! ^.^ I love love love love love Charles Dance's personality as the phantom. It's so quirky yet sarcastic... I think i died with joy after the first half of watching him. He's definitely up there now with some of my favorites. I saw this before i watched it...This comic is actually the reason why i wanted to see it. Thanks so much! I enjoyed it very much and i couldn't imagine not experiencing it! This scene is beautifully done, great job!

Most welcome! The television series itself was wonderful (yet somehow humorous), I'd rather see it again for a change.
And I sit here thinking if Andrew Lloyd Webber's stage version was more worth seeing...most likely because it has more to do with the original than Yeston and Kopit's.
But I still claim that scene as a bit odd. Just that I was not used to seeing it very often in other versions...except for maybe Iron-Gibbet's. Saw that one.

I love dance!erik, and the scene is entirely adorable...(except for the obvious part, grrr) but with his odd and almost nonsensical dialogue you kind get the feeling he's still a child. Holy Ra! The part when he shows her his face...my eyes water in remebrance. And I had to stop watching at that point to go to bed, so that scene kept me up ALL night! How stupid (but blonde, yay!) Christine pulls the "if you love me..." act, how erik's hands trembled. How she fainted and he just groans and curls into a momentary fetal position. Er...did I just spoil that? Anyways- you should still watch it, for it is so much worse to actually watch! And hear...

Awwwwww! This is soooo adorable!
Hmm, I wonder what Erik would say/do if I called him that to his face...

I've been watching this, and although it 's hardly a bit like the book, I find Erik's humor very awesome, and I just love it so much!

Oh, I forgot to ask. Do you know of any other versions?
I've heard of/seen Lon Chaney, this one (obviously), the musical, the movie, and one freaky one where Erik takes the faces of his victims and uses them instead of masks, I think.

yes, it's pretty good! (although the phantom is oldish, and the plot is pretty unconvincing... any phantom film is quite entertaining in the end!)
