The most peculiar thing of magic cards is the the border makes the image look a bit different in coloring. I thought Doomgape was a black/green-ish colored elemental. But in your image, it's not colored like that at all, except for by the mouth.

I love your design work, most of the stuff in your gallery is very well designed and planned out.
One thing though that I've noticed after watching you for a while is that the colors of your stuff doesn't change much in hue. I checked this painting in photoshop and color picked from the tongue to see if there's any change in hue and there were barely any. This can case things to look a bit artificial or plastic.
However this is most apparent in this piece, I've seen some hue change in some other pieces.
If you look on peoples faces you can see that there are some redder areas and some colder areas (more or less blood circulating under the skin). The same thing can be used on creatures.

I remember that card. I wasn't actually playign at the time so I never saw the art in person, I'd seen ffairly poor scans so I had some idea of how cool it is, but wow... fantastic.

Wow, that is seriously cool! It kinda reminds me of these reality-eating monsters I saw on an old TV movie once. Is it going to be a Black creature? It looks like it would be one.

He already popped up a while back in the Eventide expansion: [link] And you were indeed partially right, it's a black/green creature (though it can be cast with black mana only). ^_^
