Bio
Toad is a polite, gentlemanly and optimistic young boy who attends Arlesburghside Primary School. Due to his harsh youth at the hands of his neglectful and abusive parents, he used to be extremely vulnerable and incredibly scared of almost anything. Though his birth name is Todd, due to his parents constantly mocking him for being "a little toad" all the time, his low self esteem caused him to refer to himself by that name from then on. When the three of them managed to escape from their parents and were subsequently rescued by Douglas McIntosh, they came to live on Sodor with their extended family, the Swindons. He still uses his nickname of "Toad" as his de facto name, as he now views it as something to remind him of how his parents can't hurt him anymore and he's free.
Toad minds his manners well and always refers to those older than him as "Mr", "Miss", "Mrs" or "Sir", regardless if they tell him such formalities are unnecessary. He's very loyal to those close to him and always tries his best to make them happy in any way he can, he even tried to become Douglas' personal assistant to show his gratitude for saving him and his siblings when they were lost in the scrapyard. He also has a bit of a cunning streak within him, as demonstrated when Oliver challenged the leader of the Troublesome Truckers gang, SC Ruffey Ballest to a fist fight; Toad helped his brother with exploiting the street thug's weakness, which ultimately lead to Oliver's victory.
Well mannered, respectful to a fault and obedient, Toad is considered a star amongst his peers and always does his bets to make them proud at every turn.
