Description "The Kzinti cruiser is hailing us, Captain.", Rochus Heimann said.
"Onscreen, Lieutenant.", Metlesits nodded. The forward viewing screen switched to the image of an orange-furred Kzin captain in dark magenta uniform.
"This is the battlecruiser Waswurrah of the Kzinti.", the felinoid said, hos voice a meneacing hiss. "Your presence here is..."
"Save your breath, furball!", the Captain said, standing up from his chair as if getting ready for a duel. "You don't remember us, do you? You have wrecked our ship back at Cait three months ago. Now we're back! Mr. Heimann, close channel. Mr. Nussbaum, fire all weapons, maximum yield!"

that seems OOC for a starfleet captain.

It was war. They wrecked us. We survived. Now we wreck them.

The picture rocks, but the background story sucks. I'd hope that 23rd century Starfleet captains were better than that.

Still, this is one hell of a beautiful picture.

Why are the ships blurry but the asteroid is in focus? Was that intentional?

davemetlesits In reply to KuuztinR [2009-11-23 23:38:29 +0000 UTC]

The ships are movign at high speed manouvers plus the Kzinti cruiser is being hit. The asteroids are relatively stationary.

I would hope he/you had official sanction to open fire. Doesn't seem like the Federation to "bust the first cap" for any reason. The Terran Empire for sure but not the Federation.

The Kzinti and the Feds are at war at this time.

DocWolph In reply to davemetlesits [2009-11-25 04:26:18 +0000 UTC]

I recall that being mentioned in TOS. I think they did a few issues in the DC STAR TREK comic, but that was like 20 years ago. Still it is just a bit uncomfortable to have a Federation ship just outright declare "I'm gonna kill yo' ass!"

Gotcha! I'm about 130 years removed from that. They records of that war promise well for the federation, stay vigilant it still won't be easy.

Which is why USS Lexington (NCC-1709) was rushed to the front without completing her post-refit shakedown cruise...

The war laster for a few months, it was actually quallified as an "incident". Still, it took many good lives...

Wolfman-053 In reply to davemetlesits [2009-11-24 15:08:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but at leastthe furballs were driven back to their side of the border. *Sigh* I wish Starfleet Command would get of it's butt and cut us loose to pay them back on their side of the border...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

davemetlesits In reply to Wolfman-053 [2009-11-24 20:17:41 +0000 UTC]

The "war" finally drew the Feds' attention to the Kzinti, not just Humankind's. With Cait being invaded, it became Federation business. After Cait was liberated, the next stop was Kzinhome, with an invasion fleet.

Well, the Polaris underwent her Phase II refit of three months during the time the Enterprise was refitted from Phase II to TMP. The Grey lady left out the Kzinti Breach, sitting in the dock.

I don't think Enterprise ever got the Phase II refit, she went from TOS to TMP configurations...

Yeah, the Polaris timeline is laid out in medium details. Most of it is set during the unseen fifth year of the Enterprise's mission and after that, but the events are, of course, overshadowed by such events like V'Ger...
