Description TCC = Tetsuko Cosplay Calendar

Yeah, this is a strange one. I've been wanting to do a cosplay pic involving this character for several months, ever since I discovered the Queen's Blade series and its weapons merchant/meganekko/hot mom character Cattleya.

She seems a natural for being cosplayed by my characters, right? She rivals Sonya in bustiness and (at least in her original game book illustrations) possesses at least some muscularity - which she'd need in order to wield her huge sword "Giant Killer"!

But that was part of the problem - which character best emulates Cattleya? Sonya's got the bustline and the glasses, but not quite the muscles; while Tetsuko's got muscularity to spare, but not quite the bosom.

The solution? Let 'em both do it! Only there seems to be a "failure to communicate"...

(And for those who are asking "where's Rana?"... I don't have a character who can cosplay a young boy, c'mon!)

One could cosplay as Cattleya, and the other could cosplay Risty [link] [link]

Though I'm pretty surprised none of your characters have yet cosplayed Jun Kubota [link] [link] .

Somehow Sonya should have stuck with it...nothing wrong with Tet though.

Definately, Sonya. I checked on images of Queen's Blade character Cattleya Doujinshi.
Like elee0228's images, Sonya's got the right anatomy. Tetsuko's too large for the part, IMHO.

LOL, if you look at the weapons you can see who the strong one is

Either way, they're both great at cosplaying despite Sonya's continued reluctance to dye her hair or wear a wig.

Haha, this is awesome. I like it. I'm something of a Cattleya fan myself. I have the "undressable" PVC figure (photo in my scraps) of her (Rana too, but why they made him undressable [and anatomically correct] I don't care to know).

Very cool! Two different interpretations of a great costume. Each woman bring her own assets to the costume, and I'd be hard-pressed to decide who is my favorite. Excellent drawing.

Dave, you got some explaining to do.

You know, this is perhaps the first time we've seen a character that can wield one of those oversize anime blades. Excellent job on both Tet-Chan and Dr. Sonya in their similar cosplay moment. Can't really choose which would take the title.

What you should do is let Sonya be Cattleya, and have Tetsuko be Risty.

I am pretty familiar with Cattleya, I haven't seen the show though, but lots of pictures. And I think both girls fits prefectly in thier own personal way. They both look stunningly hot haha^^. And I must Tet-chan looks sooooo cute in black hair and glasses!

Gotta go with Sonya on this one. Tetchan is buff, yeah, but a bit too much compared to how the character is usually shown. The lovely Ms. Gannon, however... yeah, that's a definite resemblance!

Back when you commented that you were thinking of doing this [link] I thought I knew what you were going to do. I was wrong, but completely happy about it. It's 2 Cattleya for the price of 1.

What I thought you were going to do is bring out the version of Sonya from Growing Pains .

but after a quick google image search... yep, between the glasses and the bustline, Sonya is a good match.

And thanks for introducing me to something new, good sir.

Hehe, Queen's Blade. Right now the Japanese are taking fanservice to the extreme. Watch Seikon no Qwaser for even more fanservice than Queen's Blade.

And definitely Sonya's perfect for Cattleya, even if the muscularity is not there, but it's not much. If one word defines Cattleya is "bustline".

Shonedogen [2010-06-30 15:48:16 +0000 UTC]

Hmm. I am not familiar with this character. I have seen the first Queen's Blade dvd--and I gather the 2nd has yet to appear upon our shores--but did not see her. Something to look forward to in the future, then! Nice picture, but you could have left Sonya out. (Sorry Sonya fans!)

DavidCMatthews In reply to Shonedogen [2010-06-30 17:43:23 +0000 UTC]

Cattleya (to my disappointment) doesn't appear until episode 9 - of 12! - and so won't be seen in a US Region 1 DVD until Volume 3. Volume 2 contains episodes 5 through 8 and will be released July 27.

Fact is, given how much fanart there is, I'm surprised how small a role Cattleya plays in the first season. But there is a second season, and reportedly Media Blasters has licensed that season as well for US distribution. I hope Cattleya plays a bigger role in season 2, as she's my favorite QB character (and not just because of her figure - she's a gentle and caring soul, who can fight like a demon when it's necessary.)

Heh, you like Tetsuko in this pic while *pumpmonger likes Sonya better... diff'unt strokes for diff'unt folks!

So I gather you have seen all of season one? I loved the first disc, and had to watch all the episodes twice before I sent it back to Netflix. Can't wait for all the rest of them! Have to say my favorite character so far is Claudette--as she is so imposing--but am certainly going to be on the lookout for Cattleya! Have you seen Ikki Tousen?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DavidCMatthews In reply to Shonedogen [2010-07-01 17:23:15 +0000 UTC]

I haven't yet seen all of Season 1. Watchanimenow.com used to have all the episodes (and you could watch free), but they've been removed. I kinda scanned most of the episodes looking for Cattleya (hence my frustration at not finding her until the series was 3/4 done). But I bought the first DVD when it came out a couple of weeks ago, and I'll be collecting the rest of the series when they come out.

Haven't seen Ikki Tousen yet, but it sounds like something I should check out.

Shonedogen In reply to DavidCMatthews [2010-07-02 17:19:08 +0000 UTC]

Well, it is possible that you would get hooked on Ikki Tousen if you watched the first episode. I am always seeking out good "action girl" stuff, and this series is based on a manga by someone who apparently is quite fond of strong women. The story focuses on the battles between rival schools and the fighters--most of whom are girls--are imbued with the spirits of ancient Chinese warlords. The main character is a kind of ditzy blonde girl who happens to be very well-endowed and also happens to be the vessel for the spirit of the greatest of all warlords. Really an interesting and multi-faceted character, one who is capable of surprising you.

I was a little disappointed with the manga Queen's Blade ~ Rurou no Senshi for the same reason. Cattleya just doesn't get a lot of screentime, only 3-4 panels or so. Good thing there's a lot of Doujinshi featuring her.

DavidCMatthews In reply to elee0228 [2010-07-01 02:02:55 +0000 UTC]

And a lot of it hentai from what I've seen. One of my favorite doujinshi-ka, Tohru Nishimaki (Blue Eyes) recently did one (a series of illustrations, actually) entitled Cattleya Conquest, that showed her getting it on with an age-progressed Rana *squick*

(I should add that while I enjoy Nishimaki's art, his stories leave me a little cold. The male protagonist of Blue Eyes, Tatsuya, can be a real jerk sometimes. And his more recent works, Scarlet Desire, Dear My Mother, and the aforementioned Conquest are delving far too deeply into incest for my comfort.)

BTW, have you noticed that the subtitle of Media Blasters' R1 release of Queen's Blade has been changed from "Wandering Warrior" to "The Exiled Virgin"? It was a very recent change, since there are still scans of the cover art that say "Wandering Warrior" on the web (even Amazon.com's listing shows the original title).

elee0228 In reply to DavidCMatthews [2010-07-01 13:28:34 +0000 UTC]

True, doujinshi is mostly hentai. My favorite Queen's Blade doujin is probably Double-H's one featuring Cattleya.

According to a forum post I found [link] Exiled Virgin was the english translation that the Japanese version used in some promos, while Wandering Warrior is the literal translation of 'Rurou no Senshi'. Good to see that it's being released in the US, so I won't be too picky about differences in translation.
