Description Wow! CELSYS (the software company that created Clip Studio Paint, the app I use for 99% of my drawings) just released an app I've been hoping they'd release but didn't expect they would: an iPad version!

Naturally I had to grab it and try it out. I've only done one drawing with it, but so far it works very much like the desktop version. I'm looking forward to being able to start a project on the go (say, on a break at work) and transferring it to the desktop app without a lot of adjusting and editing in other apps first (the way I would if I started it in Procreate or Linea, two other iPad drawing apps I also use.

The only drawback: it's a subscription model ($8.99/month) instead of an outright purchase, but they're offering the first 6 months free. (And I'm a little concerned they might go the same route for the desktop version soon.)

So that up there is the first drawing I've done in the CSP app on iPad. Yes, it's Tetsuko. Yes, she's flexing her biceps, because Tetsuko.

(I know her proportions are a bit wonky, but I wanted a quick sketch I could post.)

Her proportions are a bit wonky? Well, I guess if you mean her muscles and breasts could be a bit bigger then who am I to complain! Very nice work!

How is it working on an iPad compared to a Cintiq? I've tried once on an old iPad, but from the moment I rested my hand on the screen, unwanted things popped up. That's something you don't have on a Cintiq. There the screen only respond to the point of the pen. Is there a way to do this on an iPad. Is this possible on the new generation? Because then it will become interesting as a drawing tool.
Btw: great sketch.

I've never used a Cintiq, so I can't comment on how they compare.

But I know whereof you speak on the iPad issue. I've noticed it a lot less with the new iPad Pro than on earlier models, though. Maybe the programs are better at palm rejection, maybe it's the Apple Pencil; I just know that drawing on the iPad Pro is much more enjoyable than on previous models.

You can't go wrong with more Tetsuko.

As for CSP, I'm a big fan, but I would be turned off if they went the subscription route like Adobe.

So far the subscription is only for the iOS (iPad) version. But I share your concern; if CSP for iOS is "too" successful, CELSYS might be tempted to go sub on the desktop version as well... in which case I'll likely give up the desktop app. (Yes, the iOS version is that good. The biggest frustration I have with the iPad app is that I don't yet have my favorite materials, fonts, and settings synced from the desktop app. Once that happens I'll probably use the iPad more than the desktop!)

And I also fear that more and more apps will go the sub route. I understand the developers' position; a steady income stream helps facilitate development. But I don't want to get to the point where I'm having to shell out $100+ a month just for the apps I use.
