This was intended to be the January pic for my 2010 DCM Studios Online Swimsuit Calendar I'd intended to sell, until I realized I hadn't given myself enough lead time and wouldn't get all the art ready in time. So I decided to post it here, and work on some new art for the 2011 calendar.UPDATE: Well, 2011 passed with no swimsuit calendar; ditto 2012. *sigh* Guess there won't be a swimsuit calendar anytime soon...

Loved it then and I still love it now. But let's face facts, Mr Matthews, after all this time we, your loyal fans, know ONE thing for certain: You and meeting deadlines are the very definition of an oxymoron!
I love your work, but please, stop promising things - my heart just can't stand the strain anymore. Keep up the great work

Have you considered redoing this with one of your "what if" drawings? This might be a good pose to draw bigger Tetsuko or Sonya in.

I dunno, this is another lovely Picture of Tetsuko. So... weird enough that the catchiest Thing (for me) is, how you put so much Awesomeness into that Metal Thingy. Looks fantastic

Love the pose, did you use a reference? Her midsection is looking a bit thicker than I would have pictured her from the side.

Almost every stand-alone illustration I do these days (e.g., not a comics panel) is largely based on at least one reference photo. As a sharp-eyed observer noted in commenting on "Preview of upcoming project", this was based on a photo of Marja Lehtonen in the same pose (and almost the same setting). (I'd link to the photo online, but I've had it in my collection for so long I forgot where I got it.)

You can still make it in time. You just need tons of caffeine! Try this... for breakfast, pour yourself a big bowl of coffee. It'll be like eating bitter Grape Nuts that tuns your milk almost black. In my experience, that should do the trick.
