Day 2 on our expedition and we've come across the fearsome Grootslang. Native to Richtersveld, South Africa, the name is derived from Grote Slang, which is Afrikanns and Dutch for "big snake". The thing is many depictions of the Grootslang are a mix between an elephant and a snake, which may explain why its trunk resembles a cobra. One legend says that this beast was an accident created by the gods, and so the creature was split into elephants and snakes. It stands at 8-10 ft tall and can be 40 ft long and are known to live in the Wonder Hole.Be sure to follow my social media down below for news and more content.
