Description I did this sketch in one of the classes I was teaching @the LA Zoo over 3 years ago. I did it as a demo, it is a relativerly large image, black prismacolor on newsprint w/white-out for highlights, however this is a copy from the postcard image I printed,so much smaller.
Regardless, I am bummed I did such a powerful drawing on newsprint...I have rcvd several offers for the original but cant sell it b/c the newsprint will eventually distingerate....even though its behind glass you should see how yellow it has become...
such a shame, but still a fav.

...can't really add anything that hasn't been covored in the commments above, but I have to say this is pretty great. Strong movement, and fluidity. The arms do seem a little short to me, but I'm no expert.

beautiful movement in the line gesture...and yeah, I used newsprint for warm-ups/exercises and it does get nasty over time...

I know , but it allows you to be free w/your drawings...and bring out the energy...... but it pisses me off when you turn out some good stuff

I can't even tell you how many killer pieces I have done on newsprint. Bust out the good paper, and I have a much better chance of messing it up. A grand cosmic joke on artists is what I'm thinking.

Great work! This piece has a very primal emotion to it. I particuarly love face, and the highlights. They aren't over done, just enough to draw attention to where most of the feeling is. Nicely done.

thank you thank you..

yes well its true about the paper....you know how inexpensive and cruddy the newsprint is so it allows you to be more confident, when there is good paper involved one becomes hesitant and apprehensive, creating a feeling that he/she must make a beautiful drawing on that fine paper...

this is an omnipresent characteristic of all artists
