Thank you to my fellow artists and friends, who organized and participated in commission streaming events to help me with my financial struggles following the passing of my father three weeks ago. Everything you've done has helped me so much. One of the most comforting things for me over the last few weeks has been knowing that I'm part of such an incredible art and fan community.
Thank you to those of you who came by these streams, thank you to those of you who commissioned my friends, and thank you to everyone who simply donated to me (through patreon or otherwise) to help me get back on my feet. You're all fantastic.
Normally it would be rare to see me producing pony paintings during school, but I had a week where I was at home with my family and I spent a lot of that time painting this. This picture's actually about half SAI, half Photoshop. Paint tool SAI is on my old laptop, which I keep at my family's home outside the city. I remember when I wanted SAI really badly maybe four years ago, but I couldn't get it because I had a Mac. My dad bought me Windows and helped me bootcamp my laptop so I could run it. He then caught me trying to pirate SAI, at which point he helped me buy that, too. I remember sitting on the couch with him and setting everything up for the first time. This was the first picture I painted with SAI right after that:

Absolutely gorgeous work! The way Luna's hair sparkles like gold amongst the flowers is like as if the sun peeking from the clouds above is lighting the stars in her mane.

God, that's just so incredibly gorgeous ;3; I can't even fathom the talent and skill it would take to create such a masterpiece. Really hate that it came out of such sad circumstances but through the ashes rises beauty. Stay strong~

For someone who has faced such a great loss, you were worth all the time and effort by all of us. Even if my contribution was small, i'm happy it could still help you in some way. You've been such a kind artist, and a strong one through a part of your life that would break most people.
Also I love this picture, as well as the story to go with it. I'm sure your dad would be proud of what you've created here with Sai. ^^

I am so, so sorry for your loss, but alas, that is a part of the dissension caused by life. We all come and go, day by day, night by night. We start out small, grow into someone powerful, and then end with a bang depending on who you are. Your father started his climb up life's mountains, traversed many impossible plains and paths, climbed up the greatest obstacles, and fell down the deepest holes. And when he reached the end of his journey, he was carried away by the hand of Fate, with love and life blowing through his spirit. I bet you that he is now watching over you right at this moment, smiling in glee over your accomplishments, because you have done so much for not only yourself but for the world. You have produced such amazing art pieces that rival many others focused on the same topic and genre. You make the world smile, laugh, and cry tears of joy. That is one of your many talents, ones that you should embrace until death and beyond. Your father would be beyond that of proud. But, what would make him ever prouder is if you keep on going and do all that you can in this world while you can because we all have such a short life in it. You can weep over your loss but afterwards, try to reflect on the past and use what you can find to your advantage. Say to yourself, "I will not do what he did wrong, but instead, I will do what he did right". That is what I mean by reflecting on the past, using mistakes as power. Do not let your father's death stop you, no matter how hard it may be to continue climbing because you can only go up from here.
And again, I am so, so, so sorry for your loss, I know that it hurts you extremely. I send all of my condolences, all of them. But just know that you can only go up from here. Keep doing what you are doing, creating masterpieces such as these, because they are truly magnificent. Don't stop, ever, because you are one of the best.
