I take it that's a good response?

hmmm, the resembelence is uncanny...

was that intentional?

and... do I spy a nautalius?

It was very intentional indeed. We needed to add another group to the existing list of fauna, and we felt that something similar to the Agnathan would do brilliantly. We do, however, intend to edit it as much as possible in the near future, but since it is for an RPG - it was something of a "quick fix", as it were.

And, yes, the "fish" is purposefully ammonoid in its appearance. Mainly for aesthetic reasons, I'll admit, although we have tried to work out a plausible evolutionary history to it.

hmmm... although I admire your efforts, the organisms of this biosphere seem to have no relationship to one another... and I do hope you edit spiralfish's design quite allot, because at the moment, it looks rather like plagerism...

I find that when attempting to develop an alien ecology, it is best to begin from a single base organism, and to radiate outward from the basic traits it exibits... you seem to have done the opposite here, as you are attempting to place dissimilar subjects into a single ecology...

ah well, I wish you the best of luck in your game making endeavor regardless!

Thank you for your advice. I have redesigned the Sawheads - [link] - and if you would care to look at it and let me know what you think, I would be very grateful.

I agree that starting from a base organism is the best way to go about designing an alien ecology, and I have tried to follow that technique elsewhere, but for the RPG it was how the animals would interact with the players that was the main focus.

Yeah well, originality is hard to come by these days...

... not nessecarily.... a great many people have original ideas, I am simply rather sad to see that the idea of another was prety much directly copied here...

I admit that my friend here did copy the idea far too much. And yes, a lot of people out there do have a lot of original ideas (unlike the fanart that plagues dA's front page).
Problem is, people are always putting these ideas down on paper, and it's rather difficult to produce one's own idea without it making similar to another.
It's like food: it's pretty much impossible to make an original recipe nowadays. Most of the time, you have no option other than to take someone else's idea and simply tweak it a little, such as in this case.

I am sorry, I will have to dissagre... although I am always inspired by other artists, I haven't the audacity to blatantly steal their ideas, only to 'tweak' them as you say...

Sorry if that last reply seemed a bit too aggressive. That happens sometimes...

worry not, I do the same.

I'm not sure you read my comment correctly.
I said, "yes, A LOT of people out there do have A LOT of ORIGINAL IDEAS". Y' know, like YOU and ME.
Also, "SOMETIMES, you have no option other than to...", meaning NOT EVERYBODY steals work ALL THE TIME.
Please, at least TRY to read my comments more carefully next time. That way, you won't attempt to make another half-assed comeback!

Let's just finish this by saying "if someone's going to steal the design of another artist, they should at least credit the original, and NOT give it a new name". We done now?

haha, agressive indeed! I meant no dire offense to anyone, I simply was rather saddened that the artist here 'had no other option', as I am of the belief that there are always options. I read and understood your comment perfectly well, and please do not insult my comeback as 'half-assed', as assure you, it's ass is quite intact! XD

they should credit the original, and change the design to a point at which it is not directly noticable.

"please do not insult my comeback as 'half-assed', as assure you, it's ass is quite intact!"

Now that...THAT...is the best comeback I've ever heard.

You, my good sir, deserve nothing less than one free internet:

And I'm glad we've finally come to terms. I hate it when arguments carry on for too long!

haha, thank you ever so much!

indeed, I try to quarel as little as possible unless the argument is valid, and even then, I do not care for the argument to drag on... unless the debate is purley intelectual, inich case they can be rather enjoyable.
