Description gir in the dog costume from invader zim.
this is the gir costume that i made for my son for this halloween. i had only a picture to work from. this costume was made completely from scratch and took me a little over a week to complete!
the pig is a covered trick or treat pail. detail view: [link]

materials: foam rubber, cardboard, broadcloth, styrofoam balls, silver metallic fabric, felt, batting, and of course, my sewing machine.

he actually got his picture in the local newspaper because of this costume

Small question, was the broadcloth what was used for the head part? (the green fabric) I'm thinking of making a Invader Skoodge cosplay, and I have been stumped on what fabric to use for the head before ordering everything. If you don't remember that's ok ^u^

LOVE the pig trick-or-treat pail. That's a great touch. My daughter wants to be Gir for Halloween this year and I'm gathering ideas. HOpe you don't mind.

wow, I have a baby blanket I've been working on for years, if it takes more than a day or two I take REAL long breaks in between. so the fact that you were able to focus on the same thing for two weeks is amazing to me.

i know that feeling WELL (my gallery of works in progress)!!!
the only reason i was able to finish was because my son really wanted to be gir for halloween and i made a promise that i would make it and that it would be cool.
he was so proud of it, so it was worth the total lack of sleep

Awwww, that's awesome. It'd be proud of it too, it's a great costume. And not like the usual homemade ones you see, you know the ones, where everything is uneven and lumpy.

I always went to my grandma when I wanted a costume made, lol, I still go to my grandma to get things made if I can't do them myself. She's 92 and still making all these things.

i know exactly what you're talking about! i looked at several gir costumes and... yeah... lumpy and uneven pretty much describes it.

and as for your grandma... awesome! i want to be that great at 92. you're very lucky to have such an inspiring woman in your life.

Don't I know it, she's taught me how to do a lot of things, a little sewing, cooking, baking, and how to crochet. Still haven't learned to knit, but I'm not sure I want to, I have enough trouble trying to finish crocheting a baby blanket... plus I could never follow an exact pattern, though they surprisingly look good.
