Description Here's the story behind this comic: we were driving to my grandparents' house in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan many years ago. This was ages before cars had DVD players so my dad, being ever-so smart, hooked up a store display television (the ones with the built in VCR player) to the car so we could watch movies. It was dark and we were in a forest so we decided to watch Bambi.

And I kid you not, almost at the exact moment the death scene began, my dad hit a mother deer who jumped out with her baby.

At the time, I was more upset because my mom hit me trying to stop me from flying forward, but I wasn't crying or emotionally destroyed. But to be honest, I haven't seen this film since then. I think somehow this memory stayed with me and made the movie undesirable to watch.

This may be the most ironic moment in my childhood.

I didn't shed a tear after seeing Bambi's mother's death! It didn't make me sad even once.

You know what really made me cry though?
Seeing Maria get gunned down in front of Shadow in the Sonic series! Now THAT was really sad!

Do you know what happened to the baby?

The baby apparently ran off and wasn't injured. We only hit one deer that night.

I've been searching this site for "My mother the car" but ...
So, I'll mention this here.
I watched the very first episode of "My Mother the Car" and was so upset by it,that I couldn't watch the show following : "F-Troop". In fact when the sergeant said "You're in the army now" I ran out of the room crying, to the bafflement of my parents. I never watched either show again, even tho F-Troop had many seasons.

My mother's last illness and her passing (6 years ago) wrecked my emotional balance and I've had crying fits ever since. I'm weeping right now, just thinking about things.

It's probably the funniest morbid irony I've ever experienced as a kid. Traumatizing, but funny.
