i would assume because Fionna and Cake were a "one time" thing and they wanted it to look nice? since theres so many Finn and Jake episodes they have a higher chance of the animation not being as good.

but why go thoroguh all the trouble of such clever wrting for that they made a "annual ball" and had the antagoinist pose as the candy prince D: such clever writing for one time 
i heard it got more views then any other episode they had in the seris

three things.
1. why, just because its a one time thing, should they just give up and not put any effort in? i find it strange you think that way. and its really not that much better then most episodes.
2. annual ball was there clever way of showing more characters genderbent counterparts.
3. it was the most viewed because it had the most hype. you don't see genderbent renditions of cartoons very often. i mean, look at when i posted this image. that date? august 16? thats almost a whole month before the episode aired. and i personally dressed as Fionna for Otakon 2011 which again, was before the episode aired (end of july/early august). and i was not the only one.

im..pretty sure the rest of the episodes are very fantasy soaked as well.
and im not sure what youre talking about with the candy people. especially cinibun. he or should i say she was wearing a dress and a bow. and not to mention, she had boobs. most of the CK people aren't gender specific so you wouldnt be able to tell with most anyway.
its not role reversal because it wasnt finn acting like a girl and PB acting like a boy. they were whole new characters.

i love that curl in her hair in the episode though, thats way better then the hair i did.
