I click 'index notes' but it only fetches 30 or so (I have over 1000) and I'm not sure what to do?

mmh...
I just checked the script and it seems to work fine for me...
try the "reset to default" button and scan again!
If that doesn't help, can you please open the browser-console (ctrl+shift+j), reload the page and try using the script again? if there's an error it will appear within the browser-console.

Thank you so much for making this! One issue for me that no one else seems to have encountered: absolutely nothing happens when I click the search button. I'm using Firefox + Greasemonkey, things show up fine, doesn't crash, indexing is done, but clicking Search does nothing. I've tried restarting the browser and reinstalling the script. Any idea what could be up?

I still can't get it to work, my notes page looks like yours but I just cant get notes to show up that I want. Do we have to fill in certain info and all the boxes?

Dediggefedde In reply to Shadow-Guardian0 [2013-08-01 11:45:10 +0000 UTC]
So the script is running and installed correctly? e.g. using tampermonkey for chrome?
I'm sorry that I don't remember if you commented that before, but I couldn't find a previous commet.
When you click on the Notes-Tab at the top, is the search-form showing?
well, surprisingly it also stopped working for me without doing anything...
I will redo the script the following days.

This screen looks totally different as it looks to me (see the screenshot above)^^
Does it appear like this every time you look into your notes?
Do you use something like stylish to change dA's appearance?

well--
I had stylish installed but I don't use it
and no my notes are usually like this
gyazo.com/dbb9b59e912743f48833…
when i go to the search tab it looks like the link i linked to earlier
And then when I go back to the home notes page the "select", "move to", and "delete" button disappear
(I use windows 7 64bit--)

sorry, I failed to check on this within my non-premium-account... didn't expect the ads to destroy the layout.
It should be fixed now in version 1.01. Please update the script to have the correct display.^^

It seems to be,just never gets any notes. I click search and, nothing. It shows the search index on my notes tab,so I have no idea what the problem is. Yes, I had commented before, I thought I installed tampermonkey but did not so it did not work that time.

Ah, I tried to use this, but it seems to crash Firefox when I load the Notes page.. I don't think I have any other scripts that are interfering with it; I do have help plz uber installed but I disabled that and tried again, same result. It will crash while the page is loading, when the upper green searchbar and note menu is there.. Usually show the note search interface before Firefox crashes. I have the search installed to Greasemonkey, tried uninstalling it and reinstalling, still crashes. I have about 900 notes total (inbox + sent), maybe that's a problem? Not sure heh, but I'd really love to use this!

Dediggefedde In reply to Aevix [2013-06-28 07:21:56 +0000 UTC]
mmh... The script is only searching within your inbox. I have around 340 notes there and it is still working for me...
maybe you could try to uninstall it, restart firefox, install it again and go to www.deviantart.com/messages/no... afterwards, waiting until the indexing is completed.

Late reply due to down internet heh.. However, I've gone through your steps and it seems firefox just stops responding. I gave it about 10 minutes to see if it'd fix itself, but to no avail. I've only got about 400 notes in the inbox, so I guess that's not the problem hum..

Dediggefedde In reply to Aevix [2013-07-02 09:09:16 +0000 UTC]
Mmh... Still very strange...
Do you have other scripts affecting that page?
Did you try to open the error-console with ctrl+shift+j to look for occurring errors before going to your note-page?
Did you do anything while the script was browsing your page? maybe opening the same/similar page in another tab or browsing your notes?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Aevix In reply to Dediggefedde [2013-07-02 16:39:45 +0000 UTC]
The only other scripts I have up are 'dev_group_list_' and 'dA_clear_corrs', both yours, but neither should be effecting the notes as far as I know.
When I opened the error console, there were only warnings, on all of 'em it says the 'declarations were dropped'. There was nothing in the errors tab. Not sure if this effects anything..
The only other tabs I had open were all dA related, no other of them were notes. I wasn't even able to browse another tab while the notes was up, since it made the browser freeze up.
This probably doesn't help, but I also tested the note search script in Chrome and tampermonkey; the same thing happened.. The page froze. I let it sit for a while, but it just wouldn't clear up and respond. There are no other scripts in Chrome, and there are no errors in the console. I only had the dA notes page up, no other tabs, when I tried to use it.

Dediggefedde In reply to ChinZaPep [2013-06-26 16:20:43 +0000 UTC]
mmh... I will test it now...
Well, I reinstalled the newest version within tampermonkey and it seems to work fine for me!
All my notes were scanned within 10 seconds (around 340 notes) and the search works fine...
How does the page crash? are you using the latest version of chrome/tampemonkey? Is this script installed inside Tampermonkey?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ChinZaPep In reply to Dediggefedde [2013-06-29 18:39:31 +0000 UTC]
Chrome usually auto-updates itself when I shut it down... There is no update right now, I will retest the script.
Alright, I tested it again. It still doesn't work! I don't know what to do! Chrome is fine, Tampermonkey is fine, the script just doesn't work on Chrome for some reason... maybe I have too many notes... I just don't know how that would corrupt the script... I can't access dA on Firefox for some reason, but I barely even use it... I don't know what's wrong!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Dediggefedde In reply to ChinZaPep [2013-06-29 22:12:14 +0000 UTC]
mmh... you could try to uninstall, restart chrome and install it again to clear its internal stored data...
Also you could open the console using ctrl+shift+j before going to the note-page to see errors within the script...
Usually a freezing of the browser indicates a script running an infinite loop or just taking too long without doing anything, blocking everything else... However, the script should change the display every 10 notes, so it shouldn't really freeze...
The problem with dA and Firefox is also strange^^ I primarily use Firefox (have Opera, chrome and ie installed for testing) and it works fine for me (just muro is slower in Firefox)...

ChinZaPep In reply to Dediggefedde [2013-07-15 23:22:09 +0000 UTC]
It still didn't work... I found no errors! You might need to revisit the code and figure out why it isn't working...

ChinZaPep In reply to Dediggefedde [2013-07-15 23:19:34 +0000 UTC]
Oh... I'll consider those suggestions! I already updated to the latest version, I'm not uninstalling it, though. I'll also try the console thing... I'll return to you!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Dediggefedde In reply to ChinZaPep [2013-07-16 10:08:35 +0000 UTC]
I meant to uninstall the script, not chrome^^
Still it's kind of strange.
It also hard for me to figre something out when it's working for me^^
However, I currently consider rewriting the code so the search results aren't the notes anymore, but links to the notes which are opened in the background then... this would simplify the process... maybe I also rewrite the data aquisition into something more passive...
... although that might result in a completely new script^^
Well, I will look into it on one of the following days... but I doubt this will be finished soon. May take 2 weeks or so...

Well, when working and active, you should see a search-form when visiting www.deviantart.com/messages/no...
It should take a moment to index your notes, which is shown within the reindex-button as a loading-image.
After that you should be able to search your inbox' notes' content with the search form

well, yes, it will take some time to crawl through your deviations.
However, hovering over the sandclock at the "Reindex"-Button should give you a progress-text.
For me and 300 Notes in Inbox in Chrome it was done in 30s.
Please note, that it only searches notes in your inbox^^
Maybe you should visit [link] to see the mask with the reindex-button at the start. It will also appear when clicking on the "Notes"-tab
