Description
Finished a year ago for a low relief assignment. The piece is 99% wood. The only non wooden pieces being the hanger, and the string wrapping the handle. All gears, shafts, locks, pins, etc are indeed wooden. Mainly plywood, the 'green' looking stuff is poplar, with red oak shafts.The entire piece does indeed 'work', powered by a hand crank on the large gear on the left. All gears are functional, hand made and fitted.

This is one of my favorite wood working pieces on deviant. It's a great design and mix of woods. The earthy colors used work well together. I look forward to seeing your next project.

No function really, just to hang on the wall and look cool.. I'm working on another similar piece right now though that will (hopefully) run on its own for awhile, using some techniques stolen from pendulum clock mechanisms

Personally, I think this could count as sculpture, but it also counts as woodworking, so meh.
I dig this. Totally. You're clearly an accomplished woodworker, to do things like this, and that staff, with wood. I like wood... but can't make anything but the simplest of stuff out of it.
