this is an incredible piece man... went to my favorites!
awesome job, I like the well defined muscles and such, the feet though are a bit short maybe... it might just be the angle at which they rest though

It's lame when a piece of art wins DD, especially when it's a copy of someone elses art...Go look at the Hogarth book, then let everybody rave about this....

please... when someone didn't yet learn how to draw any shape as wished, they tend to hide behind licentia poetica.. there's no need to excuse oneself like that! just keep practising, dag nabbit! si/so! so there!

i think the anatomical discrepancies are fine, they serve to add to the surreal sense of the artwork... it isn't intended to be realistic in that sense but more of a charicature of the emotion, which the heavy contrast shading and size emphasis serve to illustrate better
this would be awesome wacom-ed

Say people say that the feet are small and the arms and muscels are too big. But I was wondering if you ment something deeper there. Like we think we are strong we know we are strong (big muscels) but when we are weak we can barely walk (small feet) and are in misery. Just a thought. Awesome job im amazed. This is going on my desktop for awhile. good job!!!

WOW! This piece ownz. I don't know what all the people here complaining about the anatomy and feet are talking about, I think the somewhat unrealistic tone to it creates a more emotional piece...this is like a cross between a human and a, well something. Kinda reminds me of Gollum from The Lord of The Rings

HOLY CRAP, must feel damn good to get DD first time out. This piece is amazing, ive never seen someone draw like this, and its been a pleasure. Displaying an emotion through art can be a simple task, but you took it well beyond that. Incredible piece

wow this is very cool. i love everything about this piece. i think that the exaggerated tones kind of emphasize the feelings that you were experiencing so i think they hadd to the piece. i am definatly looking forward to more work from you and am hoping everything is going better for you.

"Sadness..
Tears running down his cheeks as raindrops
Dark clouds taking over the sunshine
Where there once light there is now shadow
A broken figure on the floor,
laying in pieces, waiting..
Will someone pick me up,
I'm too tired to be happy
My back againts the wall I wait,
for a sunshine or death, I don't know"

the anatomy is a bit...off.
The feet do seem too small, and the hands and head seem too big.
Plus it's from "Dynamic Anatomy" by Burne Hogarth
This peice presents no emotion or originalty, as it is simply a study of someone else's work.
Sorry for being so critical.

is this a pity dd?
sorry to burst the bubble and all, but if i drew just as naive, i'd damn feel a lot of pain too! otherwise than agreeing with what littleweird already said, i have to add the perspective is crooked as well the shading of the head (the light border shouldn't be there). all in all a project that should have been started over instead of just adding shades to it and grinding it with the pencil for hours. study your anatomy books better next time, defarge.

Very nice sketch. The detail is nice as well as the mood this image sets. Maybe if you used charcoal or ink to highlight the dark areas you would have a more contrasting image. It would only become more defined contrasted for making a louder point.

Congratulations for geting DD in first post here.
I like the emotion in the draw and all.
The tecnique can be improved by studing the muscles anatomy, like aeroblasted said, the muscles are over-exaggerated and distorced, unless you are in some kind of surrealism.
Keep improving like we all should do.
