Good news! I decided to get the new 3DS today along with Alpha Sapphire

Charmander... as much as I enjoyed 3rd gen, 1st was always more dear to me. 2nd was cool too, with Cyndiquil and the fact that they let you explore both regions, but it didn't have the same feel, and it was kind of sad seeing everything closed in Kanto.

I totally agree with you! I meant Treecko was my favourite in the Ruby and Sapphire series though (i was lazy and didn't type a full sentence 
Overall, Cyndaquil would be my number one favourite starter of all time, with Chikorita and Charmander close behind

Ah, well, if I had to choose for 3rd, it would be Mudkip.
I never really liked grass-types as a kid. It was like, why pick paper, when I could choose rock or scissors, you know?
Though, when I played through silver-version recently, I discovered how much fun they are.
"Ha, you're poisoned! And leech-seeded! And now I will just use mega-drain or absorb to slowly drain the rest of your health!"
