Ok ,deep breath, deep breathgo take a cold shower and think of something unpleasant, cheese, nails on a blackboard,Algebra, peanut butter, and remember, remember this is NOT a woman.
Hell I swear I'd be drooling over this picture f I were a Chick, luckily I a guy,but man for a second my heart stopped.tihs as hot to be the most Handsome/Beatiful elf ever, that's why he such an efficient killing machinehis prey are mezmerized by his good looks and in their newfound dumbness they get slaughtered and cut into nice slice ready to be roated on the barbecue to make tasty burgers.
Luckily I 've got a girls friend who's reading to crush by balls wheve she sees the slighest sign of drooling...I guess I wont end up in hamburger meat anytime soon.

Very good work!

Now look what you've done!
My 1st thought was that you could've make the blade curvy and make adjustment to the sheath to be able to take it all in... maybe the sheath should hang by a proper belt... and some of the petals don't have the correct light angle....
.... then I realized I was comparing it to reality and that means perfection my friend!!!

You are truly a magnificent artist

This is an amazing peice of digital art, and I love the picture, but perhaps you should use references in the future? Alot of people are proud that they work with no reference (I'm not saying that's the case with you) but I don't think they should be, unless they are amazingly good, and have no flaws in thier work. If you work without a reference all the time, you won't notice mistakes that you make repeatedly, and therefore won't improve, and the mistakes become more ingrained, and harder to fix. You simply cannot produce a piece anatomically correct without a reference, unless you have studied it thoroughly, and have memorized how everything should be in every pose... I think you'll agree this is impossible. All the masters used references for thier peices wherever possible, and it only made them better artists. I know you'll probably want to let this peice alone now, but it's probably an idea to bear it in mind in the future.

Heh, I've talked about this issue with other people too in the past. You're definitely right about the references and I am aware of this. It's impossible to make something look real without any reference and no one can doubt that. However, that is a matter of the priorities that artists have set. Each artist has a different approach and goals and seeks different things in order to achieve satisfaction.
So, I DON'T work without a reference all the time. When I make commissions (that have to be as flawless as possible), I use as many references as I can with DIRECT copy, because that's the professional way. I also use them for practice***. However, I don't enjoy it so much. So, when I do stuff for myself, I enjoy it more when I use just my imagination, and perfection comes in second place in this case. I know that many things could be wrong, but that's ok with me, since I enjoyed it more in the process.

*** I practice with references in a different way. Instead of trying to study another image by copying it (as it is done in academic art schools), I strongly believe that it is much beneficial to study the image first by "copying" it in my mind and then drawing it without looking at the ref. pic, until I finish. Then, I compare the two pics together, and try to figure out why they are not the same. I repeat the process many times if necessary, until I'm satisfied. In this way, I'm more conscious and aware of my mistakes, and I learn tons of new things. After all, it's the visual memory that has to be trained. With direct copying you don't really gain anything in the end, because you don't use your memory. Everything's written in your RAM, but nothing in your hard drive.

There, I think I covered you..
