Description ....of it all

Finally finished this one
Ok,story behind this: I started it on Christmas day (I shit you not) at 7:30 in the morning due to the fact that on the night of Christmas Eve I was sick and slept only for 4 hours, then woke up feeling extremely nauseous and couldn't sleep. So,I went to the living room where my mom was watching TV since I woke her up while making my way to the bathroom to try and puke (sorry for making it so graphical, but I was really ill).I sat with her while we watched an idiotic film about the end of the world,I think, and such ("The Bible code" I think was the title) and from a 3 word sentence in that movie I came up with this image in my head.So here I am.
I wanted to make it a fully traditional piece and an inked one,but managed to make only the lines traditional (again) and the rest in PS.

Please check out the other 2 versions: [link] & [link] and tell me which is more interesting to you. Also, here's the original lines [link]

Tools: 2B pencil, normal xerox paper,0.5 nib pen and black ink (yes,it was the first time ever that I used a nib pen and ink),Photoshop CS3 for the rest.

EDIT: I changed it a bit (added more texture to it,which resulted in toning down the color on the belt and stuff,as scolded me,on right occasion, since I always make the objects on a person more visible than the person and thus the focus is misplaced). and I took your advices, but I like it better this way, please don't misunderstand,I'll explain in full length in the replies to your comments, and thank you for helping So,to put everything in a straight arrow,I wanted a monochromatic (seems to be all I want to do these days),manga and apocalyptic looking drawing. It didn't feel right having shades on the character and cloak,as I had in mind a 2D heavily inked manga page (e.g. Naruto). And I end my edit by saying I've made peace with it and it's more precious to me than others because it has a special meaning ^_^

Sorry for the late reply.
Thank you very much for the compliment!
Well, the texture on the cloak is a mix of one of Photoshop's default brushes set on low opacity,a medium size and then stamped everywhere within the space of the cloak (on a different layer). And then I fiddled a bit with the preset effects in Photoshop. That's about all, hope it helped though

What black liquid ?! Is she an android !? The tatoo gets good for a demi-evil character design...

About the big boobs/small boobs there in Brazil we have a tv show that made a joke out of it naming a character "The Silicon Woman" ^^"
And she does have impossible big ones... bigger than a normal bull head @_@

I can feel some alterations on this one ( or maybe cause i'm in a diferent computer ) and the cloak now looks rugged and so more apocalyptic... The face now is the biggest focus, making her very well done. And i like your Classic Maga Feel XD

I understand your quest for the form first than the colours, and agree with you. Things have to evolve naturally and i think everyone has their time, as does say St. Thomas de Aquino "Patience is the virtue of walking in your own pace/ritmyn... " And as said the Fates in an story "It's never what they want, and if we do give what they think to want they like it even less..." So go on, give us YOUR BEST not what we think is the best ;D

Then i will see you later i suppose, good luck in your End Term... With much love and care
Gabriel.

PS: Try to learn a little of samba, so maybe we dance later ;D [link]

There is a problem with shading in this version, a big problem, but lets concentrate on what i didn't say fore : THE CLOAK HAS NO SHADOWWWW it would be ok if the cloak was black, but its grey with sparkles ( What ? )

Overall in all of your versions, the objects seem more importat than the character i would have colored it that way : [link]

But the colors may not be exactly the same you thought, since i did it in about 15 minutes ^^"

Another thing the cloak makes me think if she has point tits @_@ ( not that she has, but you didnt put any volume there so she looks as flat as a man... )

However i like the clouds and lineart, and your skills with both photoshop and finishing ( shadows and colors ) is evolving greatly i think in no time you'll be able to pull some popularity... ( But if you're desperate : Try doing something funny, people like funny things )

I wish i could have been around there in christmas to support you... So see you later Lexie XD

PS: Carnival starting Saturday, wanna dance young lady ? ;D

I wanted it to look like a classical manga page (no shadows,no tones added in Photoshop, all in just black, white and a bit of gray). My brother said the same thing about the cloak It isn't gray with sparkles,it's a dark-gray texture made with one of PS's default splatter brushes, and I thought it would look interesting if the cloak had this patter which made it look surreal

I edited it,and toned down the focus on the objects, and I know I have that problem You made a great colored version, but as I said,I wanted a mono-chromatic picture.Btw,the things that are coming down from her eyes aren't blood or tears,it's some kind of black water or a tattoo,I don't know for sure either

I know it looks like that,I've had that first impression myself, but then I got used to it.To tell the truth,I wanted to draw a girl/woman with smaller boobs, since I always seem to make them impossibly big and that got on my nerves. Here's the sketch [link]

Thank you,but I really suck at Photoshop,I've seen that on my own,so I don't know if I'll ever get the hang of it.As for popularity,I don't really crave it right now,I mean, sure I'd like to be a more seen person and my goal is to get a DD soon, but I'd rather be unknown and get better at what I do,instead of being popular and my drawings to have no real value.

You've been there for me when I truly needed,Gabe, being sick has never dragged me down, being healthy has always been rougher

PS: I'd love too,but the only dance I know is a self-taught waltz

I think you lack a 4th version - if you'd take this version and add more shading to the cloak, it would look better. The dark version V3 IMO looks a bit better than this, but it also lacks shading of the clock. So I think if you could mix this and V3, it would be perfect.

Better - but I think the folds need even a bit more shading!

I've decided,I like it without shading,it just didn't feel right to me ^_^ Thank you alot for always helping me improve

Well, that's fine if you like it best that way!

It is always the problem if you encourage people to comment that they might point out things that don't agree with you, too ^^

I know that, but that doesn't hinder me.I agree with you on the shadows, maybe it would have looked better, but I see it as the best outcome to it (this is purely my way of seeing it,doesn't mean I'm right ),else if I do what the general public would like and I don't,it would beat the purpose of drawing for fun
