Description I am very excited about this, it's for a project I'm working on which is secret.
Oooh!
It's going to involve lots of Androids, Robots and Sci-Fi work. YAY!!
I'm still teaching myself to use Bryce properly and not just for rendering shiny glass things because I can.
This has been an extremely interesting Poser/Bryce cross-over experiment with regards to texturing and lighting.
Plus lots of fun in Photoshop on the colour work.
I've finally started to get back into the creative flow, Hurrah!

Full view if you would be so kind and thank you very much for looking

Very nice reflections! I love the model as well as the surfaces. So I gather you imported a poser character into Bryce and redid the textures for this? I've rendered some poser characters in Vue and that was kinda fun. Couldn't figure out how to export the pose however....

Yup, it's Poser exported to Bryce and re-textured with the shiniest things I could find.

I'm not sure how Vue works as I don't use it myself but with Bryce... You finish everything in Poser then export as a .OBJ file.

If Vue accepts that filetype you should be able to export Poser things into Vue and keep all the Poses.
There's quite a useful tutorial at [link] which deals with exporting Poser things into Bryce and how to set all the textures and transparencies might be useful if Vue & Bryce deal with textures and OBJ files in a similar fashion.

If that's not any use try checking out Renderosity.com (unless you're already a member there) they've got some pretty useful tutorials and forums and there's generally a good few people around who'd know about exporting Poser to Vue.

Very well.. what do we have here? The product of cross-combining different softwares to achieve the ultimate image?
My do I like what I see... I really dig the blue lighting... it looks cool and all, altough it seems to be a reflection over the metallic surface... so I dunno where that blue light is actually coming from

The reason the green stands out is because it feels made of a different material. Everything else is shiny sleek metal/plastic, while the green thing feels more like... a rubber-like material, and if it clashes with the rest of the image is because it's that, a different material =3

I could probably have a hell of a time trying to decide what was done in the modelling program and what was done on the raster level. But the end result is pretty impressive. I am wondering here about that 'shade' of the character on the lower part where it touches the ground... I thought at first that was supposed ot be the reflection off the ground (because it does looks like that if you aren't paying attention), but looking at the 'reflection' of the fingers proves that it's not that. I wonder what it is... and why it wasn't applied to the whole body... ah it's a mystery.

Looking at all the shiny colors on the metallic sections, I can see that you had fun coloring that... altough it didn't really follow any patterns of true light sources.. it's just colors spread around in a way that looks cool To someone who does not carefully thinks about it, it really strikes as true modelled lightning effects.. so it's pretty well done, I believe ^^ Yeah I know ya followed the general standard of 'red : above', 'blue : below', but there are a few areas where the lightning coloring patterns don't seem consistent with the rest of areas (like the red lights on the left foreleg), altough it's not really noticeable unless you wanna be a mean nitpicker (like I am), so all in all it still feels very pleasing ^^

Ah well.. I don't have much else to say.. it's a grand piece (the spinal cord is incredible.. a bit scary to me, though ), and it's great to see ya do some original work once more. Way to go

Oh yeah, will be looking forward to see your finished job once it hits theaters everywhere

Thankyou again for taking the time to leave such a wonderfully detailed comment.
It really is nice to know that there are people who "really" look at an image then respond to everything they've noticed individually.
It is just so fantastic to get such amazing feedback on my work and I truly appreciate it.

With regards to this piece, the colours and lighting....
Most of my work in Bryce at the moment is purely for enjoyment and messing about with textures so I'll use anything from anywhere else, import it into Bryce then re-texture like crazy.
As every one of my friends will know... I am obsessed with the shiny. Anything shiny, I LOVE it.
I have to be forcibly stopped from buying shiny things or crystal shite when I'm out. There's just something so wonderful about shiny things and the way light hits them.
So... most of the stuff I'm working on at the moment in Bryce involves trying to make things as shiny as possible and lately I've been playing with colours as well.

I don't know if you're familiar with Bryce? It starts with a default sky, horizon line and a floor. Any object placed into that space and textured with a reflective material will therefore reflect the sky/floor and any other objects placed in the scene, colours of sky/floor/objects will be picked up by the main object (s) I'm working on.
With this piece, the colours are created from a red/orange sky with a dense cloud layer shot through with blue streaks and a dark blue water layer placed on the ground, which is also reflecting the sky, both these reflections then being picked up by the main object which is, in turn, reflecting everything back.
Dear God, it gets infinitely confusing after a while and all i can say is thank Baby Jesus for Bryce's true raytrace render engine and ability to deal with multiple reflective surfaces.
I'll also play with lights, adding them to the scene and changing the colours.

With the android series I'm working on at the moment, I want all the finshed images to have a pure black background with the focus on the figure, nothing else. So when the final render is finished in Bryce I'll do an object mask so I can clear everything else but the figure out of the way.
Then I take the image to Photoshop and play silly buggers with filters, in this piece it's a mixture of filters, saturation, hues and blur to create the aura around the figure.
I happened to like the bottom half of the coloured aura, it did appear to look like a reflection on the floor but the angle of the colours down from the hand/fingers wasn't right but.. I liked the effect so I didn't remove it from that area.
The wires in the legs were textured with a transparent, reflective, volumetric material as I wanted an glowing/organic/fluid feel to them to contrast with the rest of the figure which was textured with pure reflective silver.

I'm still experimenting a lot with everything in Bryce, it's all so much fun

Oh I see... honestly, I don't have experience with 3D modelling software, I once played a bit around in the Blender, but that's it. In fact, before seeing your art, I never even heard of Bryce.
So there's a ground and a sky at the beginning regardless... I believe that's what kinda explain how all the reflections work.. even if they are trapped upon a black-matter that envolves everything
Well despite the big sea of confusion that you seem to make out of how the program works, you do seem to know your way around and the end result speaks for itself =3 And since you are still experimenting, things can only get better X3

hats a bit beyond my rendering scope, but it seems just about perfect...
excellently done.
the rest of the series look promising.

Very nice! I like her construction ans the way her neck is, well, not normal. The legs also have a very realistic feel to them. However, the green wires do look like they have been colored in photoshop. Maybe I am wrong, but they do not seem to fit due to the coloring.
