Description .....So, backstory on this piece first. ^_^

I have a job now - please read my journal for some more infor on that. Anyways, they explain to me that they're trying to maximize production time by having people in the studio nearly 24/7; as a member of cleanup, I, alas, get stuck in the night shift, which is 6 pm to 3 am.

Which royally sucks.

So work stops at 3 am. Some leave at that time, some don't. I don't, since my neighborhood has become very notorious for having hordes of unscrupulous fellows wander our streets at such a late time. So, I'm pretty much stuck in the studio until daybreak, which is 6 am.

Thankfully, I got a PSP from my dad last Christmas. It rocks, by the way; but sometimes, I get bored of even that.

Fortunately, we're still allowed to use the PCs if we want to. They're not connected to the company server anymore (something about previous artists neglecting their duties just to surf... ). Fortunately, they're all equipped with Wacom Cintiq tablet monitors.

You see the results above. XD XD XD

It's my first foray into fully-digital artwork; it started out as just a practice run, but I ended up adding more and more detail to the color. The background, I mostly just slapped together.

The coloring style is something I'd like to develop over time: achieving a nearly paint-like appearance and texture, many of the great digital artists out there.

Oh, and coloring in really, reeeeally good-looking abs.

You know... you have to question the company's intentions for leaving you to rot at such an unholy hour... with a computer... and a tablet... and nothing but editing software...

You should demand for a raise, or something like that. You know you deserve it. Either that, or just bum your way through the hours and get paid, doing just that. Complain and complain, and demand that you're not being paid well enough.

Well, at least that's what I'd do. I'm slaving it off right now in Med School, and I'm paid shit. Enjoy your PSP, while you can; because soon, a suspicious ninja wearing a scrub suit and an apron will just dangle in on you and swipe that little gadget right out of your fingertips.

May you be warned... O_O

Right now, I won't really have any weight behind my words if I do complain - I'm a fresh grad, so still-zero experience = not much bargaining power. Oh well, at least I can continue working on my pet projects... ^_^

So, you be plannin' to swipe me pride and joy, eh? Rest assured, lad, that ye be playin' wid the big boys, now... I may have been a pirate only for a fortnight, but a pirate I was and a pirate I yet be - and damned if I'm about to let me booty out of me sight!! You'd best be prepared when you come, lad - or ye'll find yerself in the dankest corners of Davy Jones' locker!!!

Pirate versus ninja? Bring it on, bitch.

Haha, as far as "bargaining power" is concerned, remember that you have your TALENT behind your belt, and this is your strongest selling point. As long as you present yourself as an asset to the company, then you have all the right to complain.

It takes a little "pa-kapalan ng mukha" and being a little obnoxious, but that's how many people get their way through the corporate ladder. Either that, or you can ass-kiss, but that's not something I'm willing to stoop down for, if you get my drift.

Hi!
Mmm, I remember her...hehehe.
I like the way you colored it--more dramatic than your previous works. Although, I think the bar that she's leaning on is set a bit too high ^^ Other than that, good job!

I knew it. I should have known! Ever since we've befriended each other for the second time... (Or whatever you call our encounter in the second year) Every time I improve my drawing skills, and make it say 50% better than my last one (just to at least make it look half decent beside your work), you always go out and improve on your work by 150%! So at my best, you'll always have your work three notches above mine, and I don't even want to think about my worse times. So, I guess I'll have to keep on improving to pressure you to keep up the good work and NOT to let me match your work!

P.S. I can't even fathom of using this as reference. I have to get a tablet first. This will help you more than it would me.

Hey, that won't necessarily be a bad thing, you matching my work - that would mean that you've improved lots, lots more since we re-met! ^_^
