Description Okay...this took WAAAY longer than I thought it would. O.o Just some practice. I had quiet a bit of fun with this piece! love all the colors. X3 That's my favorite part...adding colors! Tried several new brushes and tested some things. I like it.

Here is the critique you requested.

Pros: You have selected a nice range of core colors for you pallet. Your brush work has some good energy to it and adds to the flow and movement of your painting.

Cons: You need more light and shadow to your painting and you need more color to your light and shadow. Try reading this article I wrote on my art blog and that should help you understand what I mean. [link] I also think that you value range could be broader and that would help with the depth of you work.

Hope that helps.

This is AMAZING! I would NEVER be able to do an art piece this amazing. Everything in the picture is so detailed. I can tell that you took a long time on this. The trees are so lush, and the coloring on them is intricate. I can see the different layers, just like you would in real life. I can see a small amount of bark, with layers of the leaves on top. The water is just as detailed, if anything, MORE detailed. You took the time to show the water falling, the moss in the water, and the reflections. That would be hard. Everything looks fantastic. Really good job!!!

Oh! That makes a lot of sense! I would have never thought of that. I always just use the smallest circle brush on SAI to get a detailed design. Thanks a lot! All your art is really cool!

Thank you for your insight into my piece! A little trick about detailing, sometimes (as in this speedpaint) you only need to imply details. I used textured brushes to imply details in the leaves and moss without actually detailing the leaves and moss. You'll get better! You already have an amazing gallery!

That is THE most amazing thing i EVER saw! If this is practice, you must be a god when you're doing the real deal! And to think you did this for your watchers.. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/> i swear it looks like a photo you took and just published it! I knew i watched you for a reason e.deviantart.net/emoticons/let… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Lick)"/> this is awesome, you are awesome, anyone who also thinks this is amazing, is awesome! But honestly, i appreciate how you put your time into this, even though it's practice! You deserve points for this! Too bad i dont have any... So anyway, good job on this and i hope to see more!

nice job on this one. do u use preset brushes in PS?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Denece-the-sylcoe In reply to Crezenda [2013-03-26 14:23:03 +0000 UTC]

I used a 20px hard round brush set to pen pressure for most of the painting, the rocks and water for the most part. I used textured custom brushes for the moss and foliage.

Great Job Denece! I love the texture you used. And there is so much green! Haha. It reminds me of the pictures/paintings I see at chinese food restaurants sometimes, that have little lights behind them, and the lights make the water look like it's moving... if you know what I mean? Very peaceful drawing.

Meep! This is my favorite from you, yet! I would totally have this on my wall! It's so beautiful, and peaceful, and happy... Great work! I love the colors you used, as well, and I also love the splashing water. This looks very real to me, and like a professional oil artist from the 1800's spent years working on this. Great job!
