being Selfish is never a bad thing, being Greedy is. The two often get mixed up. Selfishness is only worrying about and taking care of yourself, which most people in this world need to do anyway.

Caring about others who do not care about you hurts, hell yes, but it makes you a better person. As for the rest, those are all very human things to do. It is your life, you are entitled to lie to avoid making it a living hell *which telling nothing but truth often does*
