Okay.. so I am dutch and "lol" in our langauge is just a word. Most people know it comes from the English LOL (laughing out loud) but we use it just to say; dat is lol! (that's fun!) and we even have weird thingies like lollig (something like funny I suppose)

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

FireDitto [2008-07-28 08:01:55 +0000 UTC]

I used lol when I'm amused, mostly.
LOL or -laughs- or something similar is when I ACTUALLY laugh.

But yeah, lol = amused, more often than not.

GreenFaerie13 [2008-07-28 05:20:59 +0000 UTC]

in my experience, "lol" is just used as a filler xD

flamemetalalchemist [2008-07-28 02:55:26 +0000 UTC]

XDXDXDXD I hate lol, yet I can't seem to not use it from time to time.

singorscream26 [2008-07-28 02:41:35 +0000 UTC]

oh the magical power of an "lol" in a text, comment, message, IM... anything!

so many people i know, including myself a) abuse the "lol" rights and priveleges, and b) use it in an attempt to save their asses.

"i hate you lol" is a perfect example.
anyone agree?!
hahahah this secret is so perfect!!!

Indeed. That's exactly what I use it for, actually... "LOL" and "lmao" are reserved for the actual laughs.

xXGunsXGoXBangXx [2008-07-27 18:46:22 +0000 UTC]

Very true. So many people use it after pretty much every sentence you say to them.
Like, not everything I say is making you laugh out loud....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TailoredAngelsHorror In reply to xXGunsXGoXBangXx [2008-07-27 20:52:06 +0000 UTC]

I say lol a lot cause I'm actually laughing out loud...but I laugh a lot, probably more than most people, haha

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

xXGunsXGoXBangXx In reply to TailoredAngelsHorror [2008-07-27 23:27:46 +0000 UTC]

Sometimes it's okay. I use it myself at times.
But when you say "oh, how are you today" and the person writes "lol! i'm good." than it gets annoying.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TailoredAngelsHorror In reply to xXGunsXGoXBangXx [2008-07-27 23:53:32 +0000 UTC]

wow yeah..that would be weird..because how would asking you how you're doing be funny? Unless you just got out of a fight with them and it was like a bitter laugh, ahaha

xXGunsXGoXBangXx In reply to TailoredAngelsHorror [2008-07-28 18:57:07 +0000 UTC]

Liesaa In reply to mary-yasha [2008-07-29 19:15:30 +0000 UTC]

hehe.
this whole thing is very funny for me since I am dutch and "lol" in our langauge is just a word. Most people know it comes from the English LOL (laughing out loud) but we use it just to say; dat is lol! (that's fun!) and we even have weird thingies like lollig (something like funny I suppose)

So people here saying, you know what's stupid? Saying LOL in a real conversation. So I'm like.. yeah.. that's not stupid at all when you speak dutch. xD. no one would look at you weird at all.

though, I get what they mean. there are people here saying OMG in real conversations. that's being odd. they say it like OH MY GOD, or OH MY GOSH or even omg.. which sounds something like ommeg. (yeah I dunno how to write it down so you can understand what it sounds like -_-" but it sounds veryy very stupid)

mary-yasha In reply to Liesaa [2008-07-30 06:16:54 +0000 UTC]

xD that is SO cool! I can now say a word in dutch!
I'm guilty of the omg in conversations >.> -ssshhhaaaammmeeeee-. It's more like an ohmoigawd when I say it though xD Australian accents, gotta love em xD!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Liesaa In reply to mary-yasha [2008-07-30 18:50:19 +0000 UTC]

you're australian?
so I mean.. yeah.. you got two things.. austria and australia.. or something. I dunno the english word. I mean the dutch speaking country.. and the kangaroe country . so yeah.. you're from the kangaroe country? Or do you just like to talk in australian accents? and yeah.. I love them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mary-yasha In reply to Liesaa [2008-08-01 09:31:12 +0000 UTC]

I am from the country with the giant mice things, commonly known as the kangaroo, and the screwed up duck mixed with otters, commonly called the platypus xD! Lots of Australian's don't pronounce things/say them really fast, like Kath and Kim (do you know them? C'est unlikely...youtube is the best bet if not xD) so...ohmoigawd's are quite common xD!
