that's what people complain about? my problem is how every Joker-related story since the New 52 started has to be some crappy "big finale" story

I'll add that it's amazing how the New 52 Joker is basically uber powerful as if he were a demon sorcerer or something !

To be honest, I'm not that crazy about either the writer or the artist for Batman, the writing is overwrought and pretentious (not to mention overly long and repetitive) while the art seems to take its cues from the worst of facial surgery and overuse of Botox.

Capullo's art ? Honestly, I think his work was perfect in Spawn (especially for the whole rebellion story-arc), but here , it was not as expresssive as before.
As for the writing...yeah I get the repetition ; it's ALWAYS some unknown devil doing something to Gotham. Also, when did the Joker turn into Shinnok ?!

I was never that much a fan of that story quite honestly. In fact the animated adaptation was better and could have even been better had it :
- Batman dies right after his fight against the Joker and people that were inspired by him taking the mantle.
- No Superman in it. Clark as a Government agent makes little to no sense.
- The Cold War commentary is ultimately pointless. It should have been kept as a Batman story.

Well,Frank was starting with comics and just does what he does unlike today where he's just completely insane. I'll just say it that well,Dark Knight Returns has its problems and it ain't the best comic but I'm still trying to get a hold of it just to see what others see in it.
It is overrated to be honest.
