Description Ladies & gentlemen , if it were not for this series, I would have left the Marvel Universe with Kurt Busiek 's avengers & stopped with the x-men at Counter X. But this series was such a treat that I HAD to include it in my canon (of course I'll indicate what I changed here & there ...)

Nicieza does a great job with character development here particularly the friendship between the two main players. Both Cable and Deadpool grow and face many questions.
Cable a/k/a Nathan Summers is a miracle of a character People love to bash him because he was created by Liefeld (& Louise Simonson ... Why does everyone downplay her contributions ?) , but they tend to overlook that once he was revealed as Scott 's son, HISTORY WAS MADE! One of the key part of the x-men entered in play... & they of course deny him his place in the A-list, imagine that .
Nicieza does well to make him interesting and accessible which highlights his strength as a writer. He is presented as a man who is desperate to help the world avoid a tragic future having himself seen the worst. He is written as a strategic leader but is also given a heart and even some wit to counter his serious nature. But most importantly , Cable is idealism . He might SEEM grizzled & serious but he constantly fights to make things better. He can never afford to lose hope , no matter what life throws on his way !
Deadpool is of course excellent . Fabian writes a Wade Wilson that is hilarious yet clever, deadly and a competent mercenary. Wade is a jerk & deep-down a self-loathing pessimist , yet the person he has become is somewhat justifiable when you learn what he has been through. begins to begrudgingly surround himself with a new cast of surrogate sidekicks. They're a band of has-beens (Sandi, Weasel, Agent X) and never-weres (the STUPENDOUS Bob, Agent of Hydra) who, as the last few issues unfold, become a sort of 'workplace family' for our fast-talking antihero. It's this last bit of character building that adds an unexpected gravitas to the series as whole. (and if you ask me where I put Wade , well he works for agency X )
After all, it's only because of the unconditional fraternal/paternal love and devotion that Cable had shown the oft-undeserving Deadpool that Deadpool is now able to open himself up similarly to others & evolve from where Gail Simone & Joe Kelly left him (Yep, that's the Deadpool trinity for me. Go ahead , I dare to tell me he's a worthless character. BTW, Kelly also wrote a confrontation between Nathan & Wade, so the seeds of the odd couple were already in place )

Now because I am a cantankerous talker , I shall assault with what I think of the canon ( anything that happened in Bendis Avengers & the x-men BS books are COMPLETELY IGNORED !)

"If Looks Could Kill" (issues #1-6)

Deadpool is hired by "The One World Church" to steal a virus that will allow them to turn everyone on Earth blue. Meanwhile, Cable is trying to figure how to best use his newly enhanced mutant powers to help change the world. Through a series of events, both Cable and Deadpool end up back at "The One World Church" where they are both infected by the virus. In order for them both to survive, Cable absorbs and then throws up Deadpool which ends up mixing their DNA. Cable eventually takes control of the virus and uses it to turn the entire world pink. A couple of days later, Cable restores everyone to their original color, and takes credit for this calling himself their "Saviour". During this, Cable uses his enhanced powers to rebuild his space station, Greymalkin, which includes a teleportation system. Because of the mixing of their DNA, both Cable and Deadpool can teleport, but when one does it he takes the other with him. This is a pretty fun & action packed entrance, (4/5)

"The Burnt Offering" (issues #7-12, originally known as "The Passion of the Cable"),

THIS ladies & gentlemen, is the greatest arc in the entire series as well as one of my top 5 x-men stories . 5 out of 5 art & script , last time the real Cyclops makes a cameo in the Marvel U...

A Murder in Paradise(issues #13-14)

Pretty nice interlude that reminds why Wade is still dangerous .

[ OKAY ! From now on kids this is where some volumes are deleted , not because they 're bad but because they do not fit with canon (in other orders I surgerically operated on the comics to twist it a bit , MWAHAHHAHAA!) ]

"Enema of the State" (issues #15-18)
Just one change here , House of M never happened (mostly because it was a boring as fuck ulcer of a story ) so the earth where Wade meets Mr Sinister is just another parallel earth that got consumed by Shumah Gorath ( yes but the Exiles will have to deal with that ! I'll explain soo, ...)

"Why, When I Was Your Age..." (issue #19) THIS is the best issue of the entire series ! I can't believe some idiot reviewer did not give this an A++++ ! The unwitting fool , the unconsiderate nincompoop !

"Bosom Buddies" (issues #20-23),

Nothing changes here ... Luke Cage is part of the Avengers but Jessica Jones does not exist ... BECAUSE I TOLD YOU SO !

In "Sticky Situations" and "Living Legends" (issues #24 & 25), Deadpool is hired to steal plans for a secret government project called the "Cone of Silence", which was originally designed as a force field to cut off Providence from the rest of the world. During his escapades, Deadpool ends up briefly fighting Spider-Man before finally getting the plans. After realizing that it was probably Cable who had the plans stolen, Nick Fury sends Captain America to infiltrate Providence. Captain America finds Providence to be a peaceful place and learns of Cable's past and his plans to change the future. During a fight between Cable and Captain America, Cable reveals that he has used the "Cone of Silence" to create a technological replacement for his telekinesis.

"Born Again" (issues #26 & 27), the story reveals the hidden past connections between Apocalypse and Cable, specifically that it was Cable who infected Apocalypse with the techno-organic virus that Apocalypse would pass on to Cable (oh sweet cruel irony , how we love thee ! ) as an infant.( Decimation never happened . I made Cable taunt Apocalypse about how mutantkind has improved its condition & that they are ready against anything he can throw at them ! This will be one of my fanon bases , and I'll make Apoc a huge mofo player since it his rightful place, to be at the helm of the cataclysm !)

"The Domino Principle" (issues #28 & 29), Cable employs Deadpool to remove Flag-Smasher as the ruler of Rumekistan. Flag-Smasher had become ruler in the mini-series Citizen V & The V-Battalion: The Everlasting, also written by Fabian Nicieza. The coup becomes complicated with the separate interferences of Citizen V and Cable's old love interest, Domino. Although Cable successfully manipulates Domino into assassinating Flag-Smasher, he finds his own resolve shaken when faced with his ex-lover's doubts about his agenda.

Civil War NEVER HAPPENED . So let's move on (Annihilation did during this time )

"Six Packs and Powder Kegs" (issue 33 - 35) also the first " divorce"

"Unfinished Business" (issue 36 - 39) Deadpool has to find a way to get his reputation back for being one of the best mercenaries for hire. I
If he can't be a mercenary, he'll become a superhero. In fact this is where Wade asks himself the right questions & rebuilds himself from the ground

"Fractured" (#40-42) It never happened . Instead Cable was preparing his tactics so let's ignore anytime they talk about his "death" !

"Alone Again, Naturally" (#43-50), Deadpool goes to the Hydra base to finally save Weasel because if he doesn't, Wolverine will kill him and everyone else in the base. He almost succeeds but after trying to reason with Wolverine, Deadpool is decapitated. However Bob finally proves his worth by placing Deadpool's head back on his shoulders while Wolverine deals with the offending Hydra agents. Deadpool, Weasel, and Bob leave the Hydra base after Weasel's sabotage imprisons the remaining Hydra soldiers; however, the same device malfunctions as they head home, teleporting Deadpool and Bob to World War II Germany.

Having found themselves alongside Captain America and a foul-mouthed Bucky, Deadpool and Bob join in on the fight against the Nazis.

Using the technology provided by the Fantastic Four of the present day (NO Storm is not married to T'Challa . Reed had a bad case of mental breakdown (pick your own reason ) & Sue had to take him on vacation . They just happened to be available to keep an eye on Ben & Johnny (who knows what will happen when Ben will learn that his favourite rare movies have been erased or burnt due to Johnny 's eagerness ?)) . After being dismissed from the Baxter Building for his mercenary lifestyle (although Sandi and Outlaw, who also work for Agency X are invited to stay for poker) Deadpool, Bob and Weasel return to the Agency X offices. Here they find Doctor Strange who has come to recruit Deadpool to save the multiverse from a problem he apparently created.

Unfortunately for Deadpool this involves finding T-Ray's body, so he and Bob sent to fight their way through various mystical realms by Dr. Strange to search for it. Upon finding T-Ray, Dr Strange reveals that at the moment Deadpool killed him he had used his black magic to try to escape through a 'mystical burrow', this sent him tumbling through various magical planes leaving the barriers between frayed. Deadpool had been sent to collect the portions of life essence he left in each realm, which he now has to use to restore T-Ray to life. After replacing the life essence, Dr Strange informs Deadpool and Bob that although T-Ray's body is complete, his soul is still missing. He then sends them to the Louisiana swamps where they meet Brother Voodoo, who arranges for Deadpool to confront T-Ray's soul and try to restore it to his body. After an antagonistic encounter, Deadpool succeeds and, as both had to be kept alive, they somewhat amicably part ways. (Thus let's leave it at that with T-Ray !)

Deadpool is later contacted by Irene Merryweather who asks him to retrieve an "electro-polarity reconfiguration engine" left over in the Savage Land by Magneto to help power Rumekistan at Cable's request. Wade begrudgingly accepts ...
After being attacked by a mind-controlled Ka-Zar and eventually freeing him, Deadpool, Weasel and Bob discover Brainchild has taken over. After Deadpool breaks in and finds the "reconfigurator" Weasel and Bob teleport to him. Brainchild then sends an army of dinosaurs to attack them which Deadpool teleports to Genosha using Weasels pene-traitor technology (The acolytes will have to deal with that indeed, but I trust them to minimise the victims number. Ah , Wade & his priceless Colatteral damage ! XD ) . After Deadpool shoots down Brainchild's escape dinosaur Ka-zar agrees to let him take the "reconfigurator". Weasel than points out that Deadpool sent the dinosaurs not to Genosha but the Genoshan embassy in New York where they break open a van which the Mighty Avengers and Fantastic Four were using to transport the Venom symbiote, this quickly combines with the dinosaurs leaving an army of Venomsaurs loose in Manhattan.

Deadpool then returns to New York to fight the Venomsaurs. At first, he and Spider-Man fight them, but Weasel, the Fantastic Four and the available Avengers all help Deadpool clean up the mess that he made. Agent X even gets in on the action, and Bob manages to bring down one of the bigger Venomsaurs, regaining the respect of his wife, who saw it on TV. After much fighting, Deadpool is eventually knocked far away from the action. Cable (who was contemplating the sight from Rummekistan . What ? ADMIT IT MAKES MORE SENSE ! ) manages to send a psimitar, which can destroy the symbionts on the dinosaurs. Deadpool takes on the last venomsaur, and almost gets absorbed by the symbiote. However, Deadpool stabs himself in the head with the psimitar, and is released from the grip of the symbiote. Deadpool awakes to find out from the Avengers that the dinosaurs have been returned to the jungle thanks to Weasel.

It all ends with Deadpool back at his apartment watching TV. Deadpool had been blamed for the incident by the media on TV. Weasel, Bob, Irene Merryweather, Agent X, Sandi, and Outlaw all come in to hang out with Deadpool.

" The Rise of the First One " ( Devilkais's batshit insane canon ) Here this is what happens NEXT ! [link]

ANYWAY , I hope you've enjoyed the show MY FRIENDS ! And this picture was inspired by this [link] Hey you can even imagine Nathan & Wade singing that song (or a modified version ) !

The guy in front of Apocalypse looks like Swordman from Warren Ellis Thunderbolts series.

Also, speaking of Warren Ellis Thunderbolts and Civil War what do you think Spider-man being hunted down by the police in the PS1 game since your problem with Civil War is that the state and legal system is trying to control superheroes.

That's different. In the PS1 game, Spidey was framed by Mysterio and made the suspect of a thievery in broad daylight. It makes some goddamn sense !

In Civil War, the registration makes no fucking sense because

a) The moment a supervillain will get those infos, BAM, they've been handed a bonus of proper target lists

b) doing the right thing is something of a CHOICE. Evene Cap America inthe old stuff told the government to shove it when they took his title away...and he still continued superheroing !

c) The fucking Green Goblin in charge ? REALLY ?

Then again Captain America was anti registration.

Definitely not.

Putting away the obvious complaint (creation of Bendis), is it because she mucks up continuity with her backstory, gets married to Luke Cage, is an obvious copycat/stand-in for Jessica Drew, looks and sounds more like a character from a trashy crime novel, and/or draws in some of the more unpleasant elements from said trashy crime novels into the Marvel Universe with her stories?

devilkais In reply to DragoLord09 [2015-01-06 22:48:50 +0000 UTC]

No. I am not exactly a continuity stickler. It is just that the focus she gets is as obnoxious as garbage like Civil War does these days. Plus , Bendis's favoritism has never proven to be up to snuff quite honestly , so screw him...

Ah, the scene-stealer type! Well, sometimes it works and other times it doesn't.

Forgot you weren't so much "continuity-driven" as "characterization-driven", but I was trying to think up detracting complaints about her.

AH ! yeah.... uhm... I'm really sorry about that, I kinda have this bad visual habit of confounding light purple with blue . Troublesome I know. I hope this did not prevent from enjoying the show ! (yep Rachel rules, so do all of the people in this picture ..)

Glad that you loved it because it was exactly what I was going for !
To me Cable & Deadpool are sort of like Bugs & Daffy . I was going forr a classic picture , but then after seeing that intro , I knew that was the right thing ! Even though this series as said above is my goodbye to Nathan & Wade in the mainstream .

Heh thanks ! the marching is inspired by the looney tunes march intro (the last link in my comment is what sparked it ) . I wanted to make a tribute to this great with all the great characters appearing here ! So I guess the fun is the best way to show it . (since fun & humanity is what a lot of Marvel comics are lacking...) I hope you like this style of charadesign since I'm trying to perfect it ...
