just wondering, how do you feel about her becoming a vampire?

... why are you asking this question 5 times over ? You know, ONE time suffices to get my attention...
As for the answer; I do not fucking care ! In fact the only story I've got with the vampire version is Liu's take . Why ? Because her personality is the same as the classic one. Beyond that , it was a retarded move to depower her and to make her a vampire in a dumb tale like "Curse of the Mutants" cus that tale stinks.
Conclusion; the PERSONA is what matters !

1. sorry. just making sure that you get it.
2. while the persona matters a lot, it also helps to put characters in certain situations to see how they will evolve! so i'm fine with them depowering her and them making her a vampire because we get to see how she acts when these things happen!

About the whole ''people hate her because she has been poorly written in resent years'' statement. Is that not still kinda valid. I mean would you hate Norman Osborne as much if he stayed dead?

devilkais In reply to hotwar696 [2016-03-28 18:05:56 +0000 UTC]
Not really. People seem to bash her best iterations. And the worst writing for Jubes comes mostly from writers who don't know crap about her and make her insignificant, but have others on page say how insignificant she is.
Osborn is different altogether. I told you I have no problem with the one that died. The one that came back is such a fucking God Sue that it is nigh-unbearable to see him on page...

Youknow my feelings on Jubilation before I ever saw this and AMEN, well said and amazing defense against those who would be detractors. She is not just a throwaway comic relief, just am under utilized and under appreciated girl who is a survivor no matter what is thrown at her. I would dare say she is the Batman of Marvel Comics but never developed in favor of the overdone favorites.
Her plasma generation is finely honed to be variable in intesity and it detonated matter on a subatomic/molecular level. Its not just sparkled and pizzazz. She mentally guides the plasma. She has a far greater control over her ability than many including Havok.
Jubilee's mind possesses a natural defense against telepathic detection or attack. These psionic shields rendered her mind "slippery" and invisible to telepathic beings unless they knew precisely what to mentally scan for. How many can say that?
Did we forget she has defeated a Prime Sentinal, resisted Bastions mind probes when so many others could not (ahem), was crucified on Xaviers grounds and survived it. In M2 the older Jubilee is leader of the X Men.
Not bad for a tragic 5'5, 115 pound girl
Maybe I will take a shot at doing a piece on her. Jubilee is really one of the best ever. People hate Boom-boom aka Meltdown too. Hey it was the 80's Like Rusty and Skids.

Nay, that ain't Jubes. The TRUE Jubilee (along with many other X-men BTW) vanished with X-Men Unlimited 34. That was the last time I read the 3-dimensional character that is my favorite X-man (on the girl side...).
But then again , I've revised my collection and decided to stop Uxm/XM at the Joe Kelly/Seagle run. It was not perfect but it was the exact last time there was any sign of growth and development in those books.
With that said, I only talk when I know things XD

I don't even keep up with the X-Men, but I know of Jubilee from the few TAS episodes I saw and I was very upset at hearing that she was used by Marvel as a way to capitalize on the vampire-craze that that f*ckin' Twilight started. Talk about unnecessary character assassination.
At least in MC2 (my preferred "official" canon), Jubes goes on to be a powerful, confident, and effective X-Leader. None of this depowering or vampiring nonsense. Too bad Marvel killed MC2 off because they apparently didn't like their characters getting happy endings.

Not really . Hell if anything it introduced me to the character , and while she was somewhat watered down , she is still a good character in that show (I don't think they could get away with clear cut parental mortality so they sort of hid that ...). The more the show goes the more she tries and she never backs down .Besides she's young so she's bound to be obnoxious from time to time (hence the Daffy comparison , besides it gives her a certain sense of realism )

I love Jubilee I don't know why she gets so much shit. People claim Shadowcat is stronger and yes she does have that cool power where she seems like a ghost because she can phase but I love Jubilee's plasmas/fireworks. Instead of turning her into a vampire they should have worked with her some more such as making her plasmas stronger instead of taking her powers away. I like the new look she has though but come on if they are trying their best to make us like Emo Frost up to the point that they have made her into a Mary Sue then I am sure they could have worked with Jubilee more. Stan Lee give us Jubilee back take Emo Frost now! Lol.

That is one, well, thorough defense of Jubilee. I hope you're not under the impression I'm a Jubilee hater, with your link to this piece on my page. Far from it. I know her chiefly from Wolverine's solo comic in the earlier issues--the trip to Japan with Wolverine and Gambit as Wolverine takes down Mariko's killers; the two-parter with Wolverine and Terror, Inc. (now there's a character I miss!) against an eco-terrorist group; and her assistance in Wolverine's memories of the Terry Adams mission back in the 60's. I don't know nearly as much about Jube's backstory as you do, so those are some good points to raise.
As for the piece itself, I like your version of Jube, though a few (okay, more than a few) jokes are going over my head simply due to me not being as familiar with her. Nice art piece and defense of a character who gets so much undeserved abuse from fans.

I am really honored that you like it !
As for the jokes , well they are more of a collection of moods and situations : Mad, frightened , laughing out loud with Gambit, defending Emma (that was hilarious !) , compassionate ,naked , angry badass , helping Logan ... etc . She's maybe one of the template for " Slapstick knows no gender " phrase

Whoa! Someone is a truly dedicated fan of Jubilee
Jubes isn't one of my big favorites (nor is she anywhere near my "dislikes" list) so I obviously don't know as much about her as you do. However I absolutely get what her character is about and I agree with what you wrote about her. The way she's been sidelined, depowered and then turned into a damned vampire, just sucks
Jubilee is the kind of character that I like to read about, and, despite not being able to identify with her (except for being short and sucking at math ), her bubbly, energetic personality always lifts my mood A touching scene comes to mind, unfortunately I can't remember which comic it's from: [link] She's a fictional character who can inspire anyone to live their lives to the fullest, overcome their difficulties and be optimistic. I can see how she's a source of inspiration for you. I really don't understand why she's being bashed by some...
About the drawing, I really like the variety of feelings you portray everywhere, from happiness to helplessness And LMAO @ her kicking Austen's book

As I said what you see here is the real deal (but then again I have finalised my designs for the characters so we should get started on that . Of course it's my vision of them so I want their personality traits to be part of the picture ...)
But I'm glad you see her as a positive character ! and a nuanced one at that .
About that scene ; that's the one I talked about being the saddest fucking thing ever in an x-men comic (the other things being in Nur and Essex's origins; how Apoc couldn't help his dad despite his powers and turned his back on childhood since...he was born , and the death of Rebecca Essex. But I'll detail the latter another time ). I mean we hear about death all the time and when it actually happens to someone we know, it hurts and it HORRIBLY hurts. We can't do anything about it and we live knowing it . To me this is the moment that cemented her as a great character & more than a rip-off or a replacement .
I mean I like Kitty fine, I adore Boom Boom but I love Jubilee with my soul.
I give my thumbs up to the Jubester , definitely (and bear in mind that I barely talk about her powers and I knew the character only 3 years ago, so I didn't grow up with her .). The reason they bash her is because they don't know her at all .If they truly just think of her as some noisy useless brat, they gotta check out the character's treatment in the RIGHT comics, no excuse. (that might open their fucking eyes instead of cluckins how the 90's suckeverytime . Every period had its share of suck but I would not put the 90's on the forefront for that ...)
And even if we're talking about the watered down TAS Jubes , he has shown to be much more than just a rookie but just as capable as the rest of the team . Hell , for instance :
When the X-Men get captured on Genosha, Jubilee makes an escape plan and convinces the other mutants to follow it. The plan only fails because Gambit betrays them (or does not follow the plan . Later he scams the genoshan leaders to get the keys. This also the episode where we discover why Cable should not often laugh... his laughter is creepy as heck ! Same goes for Batman !)
Later, when Gambit is ambushed by genoshan guards, it's Jubilee that saves his life.
When Colossus comes to ask X-Men for help, Jubilee helps him save his family and friends from the invaders, and the only reason why the X-Men don't arrive to help sooner is because Wolverine misplaced Jubilee's note.
When Iceman tries to find and rescue his former girlfriend, Jubilee is the only one who treats him like a human being, not like a "threat or menace". She also is the one that gives Professor X the idea how to defeat Forge's X-Factor.
When Wolverine gets lured into Morlocks' tunnels, Jubilee saves Gambit's life again - almost by sacrificing her own.
In the Savage Land Jubilee is the one that defeats Sauron after he beats other X-Men.
I am happy you liked the variety of moods and situations that are here : Mad, frightened , laughing out loud with Gambit, defending Emma (that was hilarious !) , consoling ,naked , angry badass , helping Logan ... etc . she's maybe one of the template for " Slapstick knows no gender " phrase
