You're awesome for this. Sabaton is my favorite band ever.

Haha, sweet! Yeah, I've known Sabaton for a very long time now, and they're one of my top 3 bands, ever.

Awesome! It's also the band with which I discovered my love for metal, specifically when I listened to "Primo Victoria". I swear, to this day I still ask myself why isn't their music in any movie's soundtrack yet.

We may very well have shared the same experience - I don't remember exactly which one it was, but it was either Sabaton or Kamah that kindled my interest in metal sometime back in 2007.

I don't know why Sabaton has never been a part of any movie's soundtrack yet, but that would be interesting to see....not to mention ground-breakingly badass.

You did it before me, it was July-August 2009 in my case. I really became a fan of the band in 2011-12. And I listened to a song by Kalmah, they're cool, even if I normally dislike songs that only have growling as their vocal parts I do like their style and find it most fitting.

The public never stopped liking war movies, place Sabaton music on one of those and you're good to go.

Kalmah has never stopped being #1 for me all these years, but yeah, I get what you're saying. Personally, growling vocals have never bothered me, so yeah.

Haha, true indeed.

I do enjoy melodic death metal like Amon Amarth or this band, though. Growling is an instrument like any other, it's not about using it but about how it is used.

It has to be done.

Voice is just another instrument, classical composers have known it for centuries. I appreciate it when it's regarded as such.

One of the best games ever made.

Devs-Iratvs In reply to CaptainPrower [2014-07-10 08:35:11 +0000 UTC]

Seriously. So many great memories associated with that game.
Aside from being a straight up awesome game, Mercenaries showed me the joys of open-world sandboxing for the first time in my life. For that, it'll always have a special place in my heart.
Thinking about it now makes me want to play it again, haha.

CaptainPrower In reply to Devs-Iratvs [2014-07-10 17:34:32 +0000 UTC]

Agreed! Until I got GTA 4, it was the most open world game I had ever played.
I almost wanna get Mercs 2, even though it's worse than 1.
Sure, it was more about goofing around with giant weapons than strategic combat, but there were so many improvements made over the previous game.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Devs-Iratvs In reply to CaptainPrower [2014-07-11 00:35:15 +0000 UTC]

Haha, funny you should say that, because Mercs preceded GTA 4 for me as well.
I don't remember Mercs 2 as well as I do the first, however I can agree with you on the fact that it wasn't as good a game overall. Although, without it, we'd never have Nilsson's classic line "WHOO! BUMPER CARS!" so I guess it's worth it for that alone.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CaptainPrower In reply to Devs-Iratvs [2014-07-11 00:51:57 +0000 UTC]

And it had a few useful features that Mercs 1 didn't, like swimming and pistols.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Devs-Iratvs In reply to CaptainPrower [2014-07-11 08:30:41 +0000 UTC]

Not to mention the grappling hook. If anything, they knew exactly what gripes people had with the first game and did a good job addressing each.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CaptainPrower In reply to Devs-Iratvs [2014-07-11 15:40:47 +0000 UTC]

I also think another reason Mercs 2 was so poorly rated is because of an old Electronic Arts trick.
See, right as Mercs 2 was coming out, EA purchased Pandemic Studios.
Not wanting a franchise they didn't directly develop, EA paid off the critics to give the game horrible reviews.
As a result, sales plummeted and Pandemic closed their doors.

I almost don't want to let myself believe that. I'm not going to lie, it sounds so ridiculous, yet so....EA. :/

You know what's even more ridiculous?

Every copy of The Sims 2 now does this thanks to a killswitch they implemented last November.
See, TS2 was viewed as a profit leak for them because of its huge modding community and its lack of support for the Origin platform.
And since profit comes before everything else at EA, something absolutely had to be done about it.
They're serious about it too; anyone who asks for help on their support page will be redirected to the purchase page for TS4. (Which is entirely dependent on Origin, and has absolutely no support for mods)

I never was into any of the Sims games, but I can imagine how much that must suck. EA's bad news, that's for sure.
