ok.so this is a ‘taste’ of something bigger that i’m still tinkering with.
just felt like submitting something as i’m running screaming for the door at FIVE-O-CLOCK!
geesh. i thought friday would NEVER get here!
so anyway,...
got to give props to my brother deep for letting me totally rip his lettering for some of my
text.
so now i owe him sex.

what paint do you use in your work like this? it has a really nice effect

i use inks for the most part.
tools of choice are paint brushes and tooth brushes. (for splatter)

Mr. Gone was such an awesome villain, and this is a perfect tribute to him. The skin color and texturing is beautifully done. It looks so decayed and mangy, just like it should. I'm glad to know there are other people who still appreciate the Maxx. Great work!

heh, funny i see this just now ^^'' i finished reading The Maxx today, and go see your gallery and there. This is just fantastic, and i'm still filled with those feelings for the whole story, Gone himself and...well i'll just fav it before i get more in it.

Y'know....I really like the style. The close up uneasiness of the face and that huge fuckin' eyeball with that creepy ass glare. The fact that I'm a huge Maxx fan doesn't hurt either. But the thing that sells this for me is the font scheme of "Mister Gone" 'cause at heart I'm still a graphic design junky. The chaoticness of the style of "mister" constrasting with the solid boldness of "gone" is brilliant. How the hell did you come up with that first font anyway? Regardless, it looks fucking amazing.

I think it's nothing short of awesome with all the greens seemingly blending into everything on the canvas, save the lettering. It struck me as something akin to Dave McKean's cover for the Batman graphic novel "Arkham Asylum", with the looming wide-eyed 'happy' face of The Joker... have you ever seen that?
No matter, for this stands on its own, and stands mightily!

Y'know...if you look at pieces of this up close it looks like a nature scene, hehehe..I really like that. An in-your-face wild man with something earthy and serene in the undertones.

OH MAN! if you like. played some jazz, took the bassline for a walk and pulled out a flute, i could have sex to this picture. well. mm. psychotic face with aura of clenched teeth and disturbed pulsating anger... *makes homer drool* how i envy you good sir. with your 'lets just make a painting that looks like something mike aspires to do so he can come out here and comment on one of my pieces for once' thing. fffffffstuff. i swear. looking at this piece makes me want to swear. but like. in a good way. and it also makes me want to read this comic (as i believe that was a comic character, no?). i recognise the name. and jesus. that face. the teeth. that eye. that goddamned eyebrow.
