Beautiful rendering. I loved working with the charcoals - way back in the day, i may need to revisit this as well. Thanks for the inspirations! I remember seeing a local artist who used lamp black it was very impressive... he did animal portraits for people in the mall.

dude.
you totally DO need to revisit them.
i find that everything i do,...hell,...doesn't even have to be artistic in nature,...
(although, it's debatable that all things ARE or can be artistic in nature,...uhm,...
but i'm really straying off the reservation now,...what was i saying? oh yeah!)
i find that everything is relative,...or,...
everything i do artistically relates to one another.
even digitally.
i find all of it somehow influencing everything i do.
the more diverse you are, the more diverse you become, the more diverse directions you take,...
it's almost mathematical in a sense,...endless,...
i,...
sheesh,...
i really have strayed off the reservation huh?
probably wished you'd never commented now.
heh.
just go do some charcoals!
now!!

Ha, seriously?! Why so? It's so easy to use...and honestly I found it a lot more forgiving. (I smudge like a boss. Holy shit, if it weren't for Photoshop I'd be boned.)
Ooh. I think I've used a charcoal pencil about once ever. I have one floating around somewhere, but I'm so much more used to the sticks.
I do, but I like this way more!

thanks man.
balance was definitely on my mind.
it's a simple piece really, but i almost tweaked it to death.
for something that was just meant for practice, i put WAY too much time into it.
thanks again.
