Description I'm backlogged with about a dozen photos and decided that I'll have to start clearing the pile. This is a ladybug I found in my spider plant in September. What a lovely surprise, I'd have happily have adopted the bug as a pet, but sadly it vanished almost immediately after I had taken this photo. Not to mention it would have starved anyway. The title is just a combination of spider plant and ladybug.

Taken with my Canon Powershot A300, I'm rather happy with the way the photo turned out, especially the focus. I normally don't like overexposed backgrounds, but I think it's quite fitting here. Hardly any computer manipulations, just cropped the picture, added a frame and applied some Clarify effect in PSP (which boosts the contrast a little).

nice macroshot, the green leaves are pleasant and the bug is in an interesting position and posture.

This is really cool. I hate it when that happens, though; ladybugs always seem to disappear after you spot them.

What a great shot - love the contrast in color and slight backlit nature of the composition. Seems just a touch (*just* a touch, not much) out of focus in the larger view, but that could be my eyes at this point. Very sleepy.

very nice point of interest... i just wish the color would come up from that lady bug.. but i guess the natural light was not really working that best?? oh yeah nice green color.. and DOF also

Good job! the ladybug is off center which always looks better, and lower-right corner is the best spot Well done, nice natural and simply great

When I first saw this picture, I thought the ladybug was added in a photomanipulation step. The lighting and focus seem different than the rest of the picture, but that's because ladybugs are neither flat nor transparent. The colors and composition came out well.

Very nice. The contrast is excellent, and the photo is close enough to get detail without overwhelming.

Nice shot, the dimensions of the plant really accentuate the small size of the bug.

Your focus is a bit off, but still a pretty good shot. Thumbs up

I found one the other day, not much bigger than a pin head, in my bathroom. I think they're adorable.
the lady beatle is a bit out of focus though, especially it's head.

Yep, they're adorable. Sadly they have this habit of moving very quickly (especially the antennas!), which doesn't exactly help when aiming for a sharp shot.

I like this. It's very, very clear; almost appears animated.

The bug's just a touch out of focus, but considering you used a Powershot it's quite good. I like your choice of framing, and although my instinct would have been to pump up the saturation and lighten some of the darker areas, there's a certain verisimilitude that you've captured here that's nice. Sometimes it's refreshing to see unretouched photos.

One small criticism, though: I think your type would have worked better had you not bolded it.

Its lovely, I really like the green but perhaps the ladybug's colour could be more vibrant? Either way, its a great photo

Thanks. The ladybug is indeed a bit dark. I could have fixed it with levels or by a selective brightness adjustment, but to be honest I just couldn't bother.
